That as soon as something is technologically supplanted in the electronics world, guitarists jump on it. Tubes Vs. Transistors, Germanium Vs. Silicon, Analog Vs. Digital.
Why is that?

Re: Have you ever noticed
Actually it really isn’t.
In the early days of transistors, and later digital, people were jumping all over the fact that the new technology was so much better.
Any one who disagreed was an old out of touch dinosaur who just didn’t like any thing new.
Fortunately some musicians and recording studio personnel hadn’t lost their hearing and talked about it.
Then came SRV, Eric Johnson, the internet and the quest for tone took off.
Guys who couldn’t play “Smoke on the water” argued over black label, silver label pedals, tweed, tolex and all the rest
And in the end, what sounds best to you is best to you.

Yeah, in the early 80's especially, transistor amps were all the rage. Everybody from Prince to Bad Brains was using them.
And look at nowadays with examples like the digital Line 6 stuff modelling stuff, and the Soundblox effects.
