Is Zachary Vex Satan?

I've noticed a few negative comments made in regards to Zachary Vex. I read something about him tearing people a new asshole on a Harmony Central forum. When I bought my old Vexter series fuzz factory, I called with a few questions. He seemed fairly eager to shoot the breeze and entertained all questions,comments,and suggestions I had. I was on the phone with Zachary for about 45 minutes. Seemed friendly enough and pretty laid back considering how busy he must have been(and I'm sure still is). Yeah,any non-Vexter or non-vextron pedal he makes cost about 100,000.00 a pop,but the man himself seemed like a nice enough guy. As a side note,I'm not the guy's publicist,lawyer,or on his payroll. Just curious.

He seems helpful enough, however, I've sent them a fuzz probe to get fixed and returned with the exact same problem and new battery.

people from Minnesota can go from passive-aggressive to livid in like 0 to 60: i saw Garrison Keillor once go ape-shit on Charlie Rose about some innocuously jesting comment & when Charlie Rose tried to salvage the rest of the interview by being placating friendly Garrison Keillor seemed condescended by that & it just made him even more angry.

if he was nice to you then that's cool he was probably in Minnesota Nice mode.

anyway. i don't like bullies. if Zvex ever said anything to me personally i would go up to Uptown MPLS & bust his ass i don't play that shit. but yeah the Zvexter FF is cool i want to get one used just becuz i like the particular self-osc sound that it makes.

Is there any harm in being curious? Fuck... You must've taken it some kinda seriously,as you took the time to read,and ultimately reply to it. Not here to fight.In fact,if your SM is still up for grabs after my ebay auctions end,I might snag it.

Ok, fair enough, and I do understand the curiosity. I didn't mean to come off like a dick, actually I was really trying to lessen the chances of new drama popping up.

The thing is, I guess, Zvex posts regularly on HCFX and has gotten involved with a number of squabbles with people over the years--some small, some big, all dumb. I'll be the first to tell you I think he has quite an ego and it can sometimes come out in unexpected ways. Some days he can be extremely helpful and seem like a really decent guy. Sometimes he's a bit of a know-it-all, and sometimes he actively puts people down. Is he a bad guy? No, not really--but he, like a lot of people, does seem to have a tendency to let his inner asshole escape on the internet from time to time. Satan? Nah. The worst thing he's really ever done (to my knowledge) is sort of be a prick to people who had previously defended him. He was helpful to me personally on a couple of occasions, but he's also done his best to put me down. He can act very unprofessionally at times. He's pulled some weird stuff and gone off on people who didn't really understand why. The most recent episode involved him getting up in arms over the Fuzzhugger Ab-Synth "beating" the Fuzz Factory in a poll on HCFX. It was pretty meaningless, but all of a sudden turned into SERIOUS BUSINESS

IMO he's a little paranoid and it comes out in odd ways sometimes. He threw around some unfounded accusations and really tried to drag FuzzHugger's name through the mud, even though Tom from FH (and the captain of this ship) doesn't even really get involved in HCFX stuff. It was all completely ridiculous, but turned into a big steaming pile of drama. I'll be the first to admit I personally was largely at the center of this because I felt Vex was way out of line, and I called him on it. We had an extremely futile back and forth that really did nobody any good--which is also why, looking back on it, I'm not eager to see the pot stirred up again. It was a pretty ugly and ultimately pointless episode.

So... is he Satan? Nah. Is he a "friend" of the ILF community? No, it doesn't really seem like it. But given that that is several months behind us now, I think most people would be in agreement that taking the high road and simply ignoring him--and any HCFX born drama, really--is the smarter course of action. It was really stupid, and nobody was really in the right. The only person who I think was legitimately wronged in the incident was Tom, since he had NO part in instigating any of it, he just happened to build a pedal that some people on a message board voted that they liked better than Vex's Fuzz Factory. But Tom would also probably be the first to say "ehh, who cares, its the internet, no need to take it seriously."

I hope alleviates some of the curiosity without re-fanning flames that have long died down. Its time to let sleeping dogs lie, and its all been good for quite a while now, so Vex is fine, we're fine, and all is well. The end.

Cool. I think I understand now. When I heard the AB Synth for the first time,I thought,"man! This is cooler than the Fuzz Factory!" and then I saw the meager price tag of the AB Synth and was blown away at how a builder couldoffer such a vast array of tones for 139.00(and even lower now with the winter sale). So,kudos to Fuzzhugger,kudos to you,sir,for shedding some light and to iblamesummers for being a 2 fisted pedal builder-punching motherfucker(man after my own heart)and I've enjoyed my time here on ILF.

i think you have to have a big immodest ego to have gotten as far Zvex had. & then of course you have the fanboys & majorlabelartists stroking that ego; but me personally, i think Zvex is at LEAST borderline manic-depressive: it would explain the super nice/dick-for-no-apparent-reason character flaw dichotomy.
