Thanks for posting this! :thumb:

When I was in late elementary school, we adopted a "retired" 4-year old Greyhound from a Florida racetrack...it was such a friendly and calm dog, and just beautiful. And from everything I know, they're generally very gentile and docile (they're even used as rehab dogs in some rehab/nursing homes). Just to think such a beautiful, kind dog would have been euthanize at 4-years old just because he wasn't winning anymore. :/

It's generally very inexpensive to adopt. We paid $15 (our deal was: pay $215 upfront, neuter the dog, and they refund the $200).

He also had tattoos inside his ears (ID# and litter info), which is badass. Haha.

Indeed - thumbs up here :thumb: . There are tons of adopted "retired" greyhounds around Providence, due to the presence of a local dog track, and every single one that I've met has been super sweet and loving (in a slightly aloof and endearingly alien way - Greyhounds are like some weird combination of dog, cat and deer when compared to the average house-dog). My across-the-street neighbors have a particularly sweet one named "Little Sister," who shows that she likes me by gently leaning up against my leg. It gets me every time.

Haha...Aen, all you have to do is get her in front of one or two. That's all it'll take. :)

It's really hilarious to see Little Sister get together with my 97 lb spaz-case golden retriever Nugget... it's like they come from two different planets. Nugz jumps all around, tail waving, going "Let's play! Let's play! Wanna play? Wanna play?" and Little Sister sort of stands there as if thinking "I just wanted to curl up with the cat..."

But yeah, if we had the space, we'd totally adopt a pack of greyhounds and a few more normal spastic dogs as well.

Already have two dogs and three kids. If it were me, two dogs and the Pedals, I'd be on the phone right now signing up.
