EHX Memory Toy. i know the Memory Boy is getting more shine becuz of the delay &modulation features you can get for low price but right now i need something simple. if i could get a used DE7 for $50 i'd get that though, also. Behringer Vintage Delay is too big & i could get another used Hazarai for what the costs Ekko 616 new. at this point i need a no frills (second) delay that can basically do either a good 1 sec or long delay. so the DOD Analog Delay, Behringer DD600 or a cheap Digidelay would be fine for what i need, price and functionality-wise.

i think Ekko 616 vs the MXR Carbon Copy vs the EHX Memory Boy would be a better shoot-out.

Well there is the whole digital vs analog thing...digitals are getting pretty good at tape emulation, but for that real analog-y degredation of the signal I still prefer analog (though the hype around the strymon delay looks promising)
The DE7 is the best bang for your buck out there. If money is even remotely an issue I'd go with it. I can't speak for the behringer.

I prefer the memory boy vs the toy...the toy seemed to have many production problems (worse than the ekko, many arrived DOA), and the reduction in size doesn't make up for the loss of features for me. The boy is voiced for dark soupy repeats, which I prefer.

Ekko616. Haven't gotten my hands on this one yet...Josh mentioned it was much brighter than either of the e600's before it, which I have a place for (although I mentioned I prefer em dark )
Josh has an amazing ear for detail, but I think the jury is still out on this one. I think the production error in the first batch really hampered getting any decent reviews out of anyone.
After being let down by the PGS hype machine asshats time and time again, only to receive a faulty pedal, many consumers were ready with their torches and pitchforks and didn't really give the 616 a chance.
Also it appears many early adopters don't know the difference between analog vs digital and were angry they didn't get clean and prestine repeats out of the ekko.

I'm still holding out for the 919. The tone control is a huge factor here, and is the one unique feature it still has going for it.

You can get 3 or more Behringer Vintage Delays for the cost of the others, so that would give you a different set sonic options

EDIT: MT has modulation switch, so the edge to the MT.

I see it has a modulation switch, so I guess that gives it the edge over the BVD. Still for $22 on ebay, the BVD is a good buy.

hmm IDK. has anyone tried the BVD yet. i am actually kind of really tempted to buy it now.

11 hours later, I've played one. It's a pretty good replacement for a Boss dm-2.

I can only speak for the DE7, but I mine. It's wonderful and cheap, and being able to switch between the bight digital delay sounds and the darker, more distorted sounds is great. Plus, it's not a modelling digital delay. Just a simple digital delay chip.
