RIP Anchor Steam
Whata bummer. Hopefully someones swings in and buys it at the last minute or the employee buyout works out (didn't work out for Moog lol). Hands down my favorite beer.

I have such fond memories of Old Foghorn, their barley wine. Not the most affordable in bottles, but I remember a place way back that had it on tap for $3 a pint.

Re: RIP Anchor Steam
I was hoping it would get a last minute save or the employee buyout would work but it looks like Sapporo would rather let it run into the Liquidation.

Were you in the Bay before NC?imJonWain wrote:I was hoping it would get a last minute save or the employee buyout would work but it looks like Sapporo would rather let it run into the Liquidation.

If Sapporo won't sell to the union, is there any speculation it just gets kicked over to another mega corp international player? Or is the feeling that Sapporo will ask too much and the name will go dormant for several years?

Re: RIP Anchor Steam
Nah, from the Boston area but Anchor Steam was really common around there for years and I used to go out to SF alot for shows and such. Trying to find places stocking their Christmas Beer has been my challenge since I moved here lol. Trader joes was the best bet.
I am gonna guess they see the brand name as worth way more than the physical location and equipment. Last I read they were liquidating the physical assets.
