3degreesaudio: bygones

Post by Confuzzled »

Has anyone picked up the bygones pedal? digging the sound but the price is a bit steep for me right now. Wanted to see if anyone had it and their thoughts on it.

Never even heard of this before now. Looks way cool, but I'd definitely get the one with knobs for every parameter. The V1 is like a logic puzzle.

Company just got on my radar. I think their Rewire may still be pending. Like someone did the Superego Plus concept to a Klein Bottle maybe? Pricey but it looks like a rabbit hole of possibilities that could last a decade.

Yeah, the V1 looks like the programming was in it's infancy and refined to a simpler grid of knobs. My only concern is the foot switch doesn't look that "stompable"

I've been trying to convince myself that I want this for months now, but it's not working. The lack of any even vaguely comprehensive demos doesn't help. I have no idea what the range of the controls are, or what the overall character of the sounds are. I'd need to hear each parameter isolated and demonstrated throughout the range of the knob to figure out if this does something my other degradation-type pedals don't do.

I don't know if this pedal is designed to be stomped at all! I can't tell if the current version is the same size as the V1, but the V1 was tiny. Here it is next to a Blooper:

Even if the current version is a bit bigger, twiddling all those knobs might be a challenge.

Also got those little baby buttons that don't look very stompable. Maybe just designed for tabletop twiddling. I hadn't heard of this company and found the website weirdly opaque about like, what this is and what it does.

They are up to version 3 and the wonky functionality seems to be gone but the foot switch still looks like that cheap plastic button and not pedalboard friendly. The new version has multi colored backlit controls which seem A LOT easier to understand.

I received a v2 and played with it for awhile the other night with guitar. Sounded great and am loving the tiny size with dual mono functionality. Almost all of my pedals are tabletop these days but the footswitch seems pretty solid. This is replacing a Nu-33 and Lofi Junky on my board. A welcome addition to the pedal collection and am very much looking forward to their matrix mixer thing.

They already have a v3 available and have been kind enough to offer v2 folks to send them in for upgrade to v3, and they will pay for shipping. Only good things to say so far.

So is it a plastic footswicth or metal? I would want one on my board so the durability is an issue for me.

It's soft click plastic but feels like it is solid, not hollow. Certainly understand the skepticism, never had a pedal with that type of footswitch that I recall. I mean I'm looking at, like, 150 footswitches right in front of me and there are 5 that are different and 4 are Boss. However when I press it with my finger, it feels pretty solid but time will only tell if it would hold up to lots of footswitching.

Yeah, that's a "Lets wait for a version with a metal foot switch" decision for me. The guys stuff sounds amazing but for the price I want something that will last.

V3 may be discontinued now, as the "Pro" is up for preorder at the same price, now with even more knobs! :!!!:
