Crap pedals you'd never want?

Post by CBGB »

Pretty much every thread in the Gear forum is majorly GAS-inducing. This is the anti-thread!

What are the pedals you really don't want to own?

Or do we just want everything?! My go: Danelectro pedals, not that they're crap but for political reasons. I didn't like the EH Soul Preacher, I'd have to say. Hmm, there must be more, right?
ILF pedals: DE Eye of God, Mellowtone Wolf Computer, Mellowtone Singing Tree LE, Fuzzhugger Arc Flash Oscillator, DSc Miniberator, Mysterious J boost/cut/tremolo pedal

As cool as the M13 is, I probably would never use it. It seems like something great, but after using a line-6 spider amp at my high school I can't think of the effects being that great. Oh well, people will just make great sounds with it and rub it in my face.

Also, the Boss RE-20 just doesn't appeal to me at all. I love the Space Echo, but the RE-20 just doesn't sound good to my ears. I do like some of the Boss lineup like the PS-3 and the DF-2, but they could've done better with the RE-20.
Do you like listening to homemade music? Me too. Why don't you try one of mine?

Usually pedals with the word metal in title. However the Boss HM-2 has always tempted me. Although I'm totally open to trying a pedal if its within my grasp.

Those Ibanez sound tanks, they're just ugly. And I'll never own a compressor.

i am actually kind of into "crap" pedals like Arion, Behringer, Dano... et cetera...or pedals that people say are crap. or pedals people don't want. i am kind of a contrarian but when i usually get these so-called crap pedals they aren't as bad as people make them out to be. i'm not a tonehunter though...

I can't see myself using one... I don't get why people use them. I'm all about picking dynamics, and if I'm not mistaken a compressor makes you playing the same volume no matter how hard or soft you pick. It sounds too predictable and boring.

Compressors take away all the lovely dynamic range. I know that it's great for mixing and mastering and can really help out in live situations at times, but they just make everything sound "squashed" IMO.

Yeah I have songs where I just have an overdriven amp all the way through, and the dynamics are decided by picking. Clean light picking for verses and when the chorus comes I just strum harder.

I use compression on vocals sometimes though during recording, but as far as guitar I don't.

I only use my dynacomp when I fingerpick songs like Snow (Hey Oh) and History Song because I'm not too good at keeping the volume consistent then. :/ I use it on bass every once in a while for really long sustained lines.

I agree with you wholeheartedly.

I'll try any pedal, regardless of their status. Except multifx, no mojo. I hate the fact that the danelectro guy is such a douchebag, I love those pedals. :picard:
