Soft switch for eqd ghost echo v2

Post by alalalkasar »

So I've got a V2 eqd ghost echo that I love but dang that footswitch is loud and clunky. How can I go about sorting this problem out? I know some pedals have nice soft clickless switches, can you just swap them out?

nah, the soft switches are just momentary buttons for engaging/disengaging either a buffered bypass or relay based true bypass. there are some high quality stomp switches available, that perform better, but they cost quite the $$$. If you want to convert to relay based true bypass with soft button, you'd have to build in the soft switch + relay + driver board, which would be possible, given enough space in the enclosure. Would probably void your warranty, tho.

Mammoth used to sell them in collaboration with Jack Deville of Mr. Black pedals. Soft switch and relay. Works great. I've had several installed but sadly Mammoth is out of business now. Maybe try Jack?

There are other options that Adventure Audio and others use but I don't know where they get them.

remember Andrew the tone god posted on DIY stomp boxes about how he uses some rubber tubes under a metal plate to make a noiseless indestructible guitar pedal footswitch. I can not find the tutorial with google. it does exist. absolutely amazing work. he is so far ahead of any other pedal builder.
