Smaller vs Larger Enclosures

I was just thinking about this. The size of the enclosure should be proportional to the change in sound it produces!

Larger enclosures work best for me since I always wire the pots off-board. Sometimes I like to torture myself by putting a circuit that just barely fits in a 1590B. It's very satisfying to box up a simple two- or three-knobber. But I wouldn't put a second footswitch on it. I'm impressed with something like the Warped Vinyl (obviously the most control-packed pedal on my board) but sometimes it's scary going in to step on it when drunk, for instance.

I'm kind of split between the second and third option, but I prefer to layout with boot clad drunken louts or generally clumsy people in mind so larger is more enticing

Larger, thicker, heavier. that way you can used it like a rock or brick when the need comes.

The closer it is to actual furniture, the better off I'll, and everyone else in the near vicinity, will be.

But I do take issue with those Dr. No prop comedy enclosures, because I feel that pressing on them wouldn't be a pleasant experience for anyone, at all, ever, for any reason.

However, I would totally stomp on a frankenstein'd Furby until I couldn't feel my toes anymore.

Chase Bliss/Walrus pedals are pushing the limit with two switches tight together on a rather tall enclosure but otherwise a pair of switches on a 1590BB is perfectly manageable with all the tap dancing I do. It all comes down to practice just like playing your instrument.

1590BB with top jacks is the perfect size for me. Foot sized and tidy.

I just sold my Flashback X4 for the same reasons.

I have an FM4 that is huge but I like it enough to keep it around but I feel like a normal sized envelope and synth pedal could push it off my board in a flash.....

Guys are like "Oh fuuuck check it bruh.. a laptop in a 1590A!!... " ten minute later.. "Oh fuck yeah bro, a 1 knob mosfet boost in a 1590XX!!" .. yawn. I feel it's a function of your graphics honestly. I don't really care, but I'm no longer a gigging musician.

Foot switches need good placement to be used with feet. Think about boots, having drinks, and playing on stages with dull lighting sometimes. Stomps should be away from other stomps, knobs, and switches. I loved my CT5 but I could never properly use it in a band context because of bad results. I can't use any Chase Bliss pedals, and have zero interest in solving the issue by using a MIDI controller. But I guess it is fine, with so many pedals on the market I can cross some of my list due to bad design.

Edit: I do plan to get another CT5 and rehouse it for my big dumb feet.

Those footswitch topper things really help with tight footswitches on pedals like CBA/CT5. It’s still a bandaid but easier than midi lol

Bigger is obviously better. Nothing wrong with MXR size stuff, micro mooer pedals I hate with a passion tho

I ordered both a 1590xx and a 1590bb for my axoloti project. Not sure if I'm going to go for board real estate or toanz yet. Will vote when I figure it out.
