Picks made of metal

I’m looking for a 1mm pick made of ss, preferably polished, and “standard” shape and size

I have a pick made out of a quarter, but that’s wearing out quickly

Guitar moose has a 1.5mm carbon fiber pick that i like, but it’s not as heavy as metal. The weight seems to be important to me.

Where can I find my 1mm pick?

It's very rigid in comparison to the softer aluminum picks I typically use. It's a fairly thin gauge though, so the actual weight of it is slight, stiff as hell though with a pronounced attack.

I once had a cut-off of titanium that I used as a pick for one show and lost it that night, I went back to the machine shop only to learn my friend had literally set the remainder of that scrap on fire, because, as he put it "burning titanium is fun". Anyway, I loved that pick as well, so would not overlook that as another decent material to keep in mind.

Holy shit, that's awful!

I find my softer picks wear more in the direction of smooth, though I guess roughness could be an earned attribute with some playing styles.

I used teckpicks for a while but would wear them out or loose them.

You could probably grind down some fender washers. Die grinder could rough cut em pretty quick too.

Clayton makes steel, brass & copper picks, but probably not 1mm?

I loved the old Dunlop .51mm steel picks, but they aren't available as readily these days ($33 for a sack on Amazon at the moment, but w/e), and they never reissued the Hot Licks thin coppers (not what you're looking for, but something I totally would use).

It's probably a bit far too go, by Legoland in Windsor UK have a penny mangler machine that you put a penny in and it crushes it flat (and stamps a legoman image into it). The tip of the penny is very thin and I have played guitar with it, although I prefer using fingers. My son says it's not flexible enough and he prefers plastic picks.

I just refound this old pick I found on the ground somewhere like 25 years ago. It's by something called HQ Research? I can't seem to find anything about that company.

You can buy thin aluminum pick blanks at craft stores. I think Hobby Lobby has them.

I have a few stainless ones that are thinnish (probably .5-.75 by guestimate), and even as someone who plays 2mm monsters exclusively for day to day use...the stainless have a LITTLE flex (on par with what I can get out of a 1.5mm).

Got them on ebay a few years back for .50 or so each.
