NPD: Digitech Freqout.

Post by rfurtkamp »

The heavy little monster arrived, and I can report that it works as advertised. In a perfect world it'd have a blend control versus the dry kill switch, but that's honestly my only complaint.

It works as advertised, especially in a parallel amp rig - I've been running it into the DSL1 with the Deluxe on the other side, and it's delivering grand goods. Set on the "natural" modes, it sounds relatively authentic (an improvement over the current Boss Feedbacker algo by a ways, but depending on your preference, lacks the fade of the Boss unit even if it's more authentic). Now, the two together in stereo....even better.

It's certainly a one trick pony, but...what a trick it is, especially used judiciously.

(and purple picks included for Chank)

I'd really like to try one of these sometime. Let us know if you ever try it with fuzz after :)

*Ever*, you mean immediately? :)

I moved it to the front of the master board and let it scream at the Bee Baa into the Deluxe and the Marshall, and it was glorious.

I got it dialed in to where I was happy with the onset, then moved it around..because, yea, pedalboard, yo.

The sonic destroyers are confused by it as well!

Oh, and here you go.

The Freqout/Fuzz silliness we all needed.

LP > DC-2W (SDD320 mode) > clean Hot Rod Deluxe, then add Bee Baa, then add Freqout+Beebaa.

That it is. I've wanted something equivalent for a long time, and while the ebow gets me close, it requires, well, using the device.

Which brings its own sounds and pitfalls and limitations to the table, even if I've gotten used to them over the last twenty-something years.

You see the Magpie bend for this pedal? Don't have one yet, but I want it for this bend alone.

I didn't but I don't keep up on such things!

I'd have to hear the bend on guitar to see if it was even worth considering - I can get everything coming out of it on either of the synths I use regularly by moving a knob or slider in real time to get there, so...

That sounds cool in the clip. Fun pedal for getting that sound without turning up to apocalypse volumes (not that that's not fun).

Big thing is it's also something that you could use at those volumes on demand.

Because, well, sometimes...being in THAT SPOT just doesn't happen.

Yeah!! Know that feeling of not having it even when you've got an amp cranked, it sucks

Or not-judiciously, too.

I was underwhelmed until I put it *before* fuzz. That's when I became fully whelmed.

Neat pedal, but mine sounds ungrounded (makes an electrical pop type sound) if I kick it wrong. Love it anyway.
