Deadbeat Sound: any good

Post by jrmy »

ILF HIVEMIND!!!!!

Looks like a couple of us have sported Deadbeat Sound on boards... how's their stuff overall? I ask because everything is even cheaper than usual on their site... I'm kinda tempted by the modulation station...

I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

I've never played any of it, but from what I gather from the online commentary I've seen, it's pretty cheapo but good for what it is.

From what I've gathered in past threads, the Black Series are rebranded/rehoused Eleca pedals.

As for the Modulation series, they seem to be doing the same thing with Amoon/Coolmusic pedals (probably everything else, too):

Save some bucks and look less cool with the OG's, maybe? :idk:

Reverb dot com has some of their stuff on sale for $49... a reverb (The Void), a chorus (Wet Dream) etc. Size looks in-between a micro pedal and standard box. I'm tempted, even though reverb and chorus are not really pedals that I need, but the GAS is strong.

Fuzz Freaks Anonymous just uploaded an HQ video demo of the Thank You fuzz. Thing sounds real close to a Black Russian muff and seems to be built well

they're repackaged clones so if you need something on the cheap with a better look than the original it's not a bad deal. :snax:

Hovercraft already did that with jet city pedals. Hovercraft is the hovercraft of pedals. (Well, they were modded I guess)

Deadbeat at least basically says they are the same or similar to the Chinese effects on the website. The about us is pretty honest.

Merely pointing out the similarities, wasn't picking nits ;)

"Deadbeat Sound launched in the summer of 2017 and would never be considered a company that produces boutique pedals. If anything, we might refer to them as “broke-tique pedals” or as gateway drugs for musicians who want to experiment with adding effects without breaking the bank. The vision was pretty simple, cool looking cheap pedals that don’t suck. Designed in Orange County California and manufactured in China with nothing but the artist in mind."

You calling me out? Haha.

I thought it referred to the box.

From the same page:
Look, we’d be lying to you saying that these are the best pedals on the market, or even the most original sounding. You can find very similar sounding Chinese pedals out there at the moment.

I've got all three of the Station pedals (Echolation, Reverberation, Modulation). They're decent, basic sounding effects with unique enclosures. The reverb does reverb stuff well, the delay does delays well, the modulation does chorus and vibrato and stuff well. Hardly mind-blowing effects pedals and more like bread and butter stuff. I'm running a Korg MS-20 through mine and they are great for desktop synth jamming. Not gonna bump anything off the guitar board, but I also doubt I'll be replacing these any time soon. The switches and knobs are real nice to use though!

No, I was just supplementing your post for those too lazy to actually look it up on the site. :snax:

Ha, cool. No big deal either way, haha.

In my head, I was like, "Yeah, that about us is pretty long and the statement jrfox pointed out could go either way. Am I going crazy and making up stuff? Now I've gotta check! Where are my keys. I remember when it was May Company and theaters didn't have stadium seating. You know what that reminds me of? The last time I saw a movie in the theater was UP. I haven't been excited about a movie since Wing Commander. I blame that movie for ruining movies and my love of DOS games."
