random/envelope-controlled/LFO loop/gate pedal

Post by jrmy »

Does anybody make a loop/gate/blend pedal that brings the stuff from the effect loop in and out of your primary signal in some kind of LFO or envelope controlled way? The closest thing I can think of is either the Devi Ever Heaven's Gate (which for all I know five might have been built, or maybe she's still building them) or the new Boredbrain thing ( https://www.boredbrainmusic.com/transmutron/ ), though that's not quite what I want (though it does look super-rad).
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

Not sure that's what you mean... but ZVex Loop Gate ?

Toadworks Enveloope? - if you can find one. Surprised Copilot doesn't make something - seems right up their alley

Oh I had forgotten about that! Unfortunately, no - that's not quite it. I mean something that would allow one's "effected" signal to be blended with the "clean" signal, but always have the clean signal going, with the effected signal fading in and out depending on how hard one hit the strings, or the LFO pattern controlling the speed of the effect blending.

OOO - kind of like the Enveloope... but yeah, something like this seems right up a number of ILF builder's alley...

HMMMMMMMMMMM... I'm gonna have to think about this one. I had some other crazy ideas about what my "platonic ideal" for this pedal would be. I should flesh those out further. May as well see how far I could get with this thing if it's gonna be a custom jobbie...

I've wished many a time for the likes of what you seek.

You could make a jfet paralellel Looper, and then control the mix knob with a LDR instead of a pot, and then use an envelope like say out of the Dr quack to control the LED.. So stronger picking dynamics - brighter led - more of paralleled effect mixed with original signal.

Not exactly clear on what your ideal solution would be, but with the Boredbrain Transmutron you can dynamically control the mix of dry signal (just don’t use one of the FX loops) and a wet FX loop signal in crossfader mode using an external LFO or envelope. It doesn’t have the modulation source built-in though. An 8-step or any of the new Hungry Robots are perfect companions.

Lightning wave Doom
3dfx light conrolled lfo looper.

Anything with panning (boss panning tremolo) and a mixer after?

Pull the envelope CV signal off another pedal (like pigtronix or Moog freqbox) to open a vca and close another vca both feeding a mixer.

Reon driftbox-J and a mixer

ZVex Loop Gate in the loop of a Boss LS2 (with the other LS2 loop used to blend in the dry at full) could approximate this?

Another option (that's simple and relatively cheap) would be to use an LS2 with a volume pedal. One channel of the LS2 can be your dry, and the other channel can be your effects with the volume pedal pedal at the end. That would give you an always on dry with precise control over the effect level.
