What should I put in this wedge?

Post by xrleroyx »

I just bought one of these:

I want to build an OG fuzz and put it in there. I'm thinking like a germanium fuzz face or a Maestro fuzz tone or something. What should I do?

I should add that it'll need to be a simple circuit. I'm still new/pretty bad at this stuff.

I'm no builder, but I don't think the Dizzy is too difficult. :idk:

There's a built in inverter PNP layout for the Buzzotron. Which is the DAM buzzaround.. It's apparently fairly forgiving on gain ranges..

If you buy a fuzz face set of trannies from small bear that would be cool too.

I put inverters in all my positive ground stuff just because it's such a pain in the ass otherwise.. which you didn't ask, but I figured it's worth bringing up.

The companion is cool, a big muff would be cool in there, Ampeg scrambler?

That's a fun enclosure either way :)

Any one knob Fuzz circuit, obviously - and then put the biggest knob ever on a pedal on there, while using the empty space inside for stashing weed!

Whatever you build inside, set up the box like the Maestro Fuzz Tones...Top mounted jacks/controls with the switch right in the the middle of the face

I totally want to do it like the maestro fuzz.

I’ve been looking around at Vero/perfboard layouts. Anyone have a good link to maybe an instructable build or something similar?

I really don’t want to fuck up. A buzz around is ideal.

Uh so tagboard fx is the go to place for stripboard layouts. They have buzzaround and a build guide so you can get your first build right
Or more .. It's a good guide. I recommend the Buzzotron.. at least read up on it :snax:

Ok so check it .. that layout shows -9v.. otherwise more commonly known as a positive ground effect. The forum has a layout with built in inverter which I would recommend.
http://guitar-fx-layouts.42897.x6.nabbl ... 22128.html

Second there is a build guide there on the main page which takes you through a fill stripboard build. Red dots are cuts ;)
http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/201 ... e.html?m=1

That should be a good start. I'd recommend reading all the comments on each build. People will list important facts as they are discovered.

There's also the Buzzaround-Alike which negates the need for a charge pump and only needs one NPN Ge.

http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.fr/2012 ... alike.html

That is a nice wedge. I think Fz1 or Fz1a. But I'd want a stack of trannies to audition.
