All idols are false idols.

Except for American Idols, of course.

Preface: I don't actually listen to this person's music so I cannot assess on a subjective level if I 'like it' or 'don't like it'. I also have no intention to.

Unpopular take (not trolling) I think Justin Timberlake is a true professional though and has an admirable work ethic. Being famous seems like a stressful, full-time job. He became famous at such a young age, handled it, and has consistently worked the last 20 years, including projects that branch out from music. From what I can tell, the amount of gigs he takes, dedication to fans, and just a willingness to engage, to me, deserves the success that he has.

If you take a band that I love, but is the inverse, THE STOOGES (and not their current status, rather, in the 70s), sure they made cool sounds and were talented but missing gigs because your an unreliable junkie is not the way to get on the fast track to success.

"Patty Mullen takes me from a ball peen to a sledge" -The Great Velvet Hammer
"...at this exact moment Divine has learned of your jealous scheme from the local town gossip. She also has your address, ASS HOLE!" -Narrator (Mr. J) PINK FLAMINGOS

That said, recently I have come to believe that anyone worth anything will be well served by listening to The Fall and The Legendary Pink Dots.

Also JFA. And Lungfish. Lungfish rules.

Yeah Lungfish was a big pivot point for me when I first heard them in 92. Saw them play at the Khyber Pass in Philly in 93 or 94. Great show. Also check out Asa Osbornes solo project Zomes if not familiar with them.
