A puddle of pedals

Post by Seance »

I sandwiched a couple fuzz between some glitch. Might not be to everyone's taste, but it sure was fun.
Next time I hope to wedge a few more layers of fuzz between each layer of glitch.

The only pedal not visible in the video is a Boss RE-20 set for stereo spread and light delay. I only
press the "twist" function on the RE-20 twice (what restraint!).

Over time I hope to post more such short clips. Stay tuned!

Thread title sounds like the name of a Kevin Shields biopic

I imagine an 127 Hours type of deal, with a very dramatic scene where Kevin gets trapped under one of his pedalboards.

I mean, you could really just blame Nirvana since that's who they think they're impersonating.

Dudes, I heard Puddle of Mudd in a Lyft recently.. I honestly thought they went extinct. Maybe it was all just wishful thinking

If you wanna go down that route, Nirvana were just Hüsker-Dü-via-Pixies impersonators via. Fred Durst financed this stuff.

Mmm.... maybe Nirvana were more directly an impersonation of The Replacements and Squirrel Bait.

I don't think Kid Dynamite is alone in not wanting a pig stomping on his buzz.

But doesn't all music impersonate all other music? It's about vibrations leading to sympathetic vibrations.

Novoselic said Nirvana were nothing new, Hüsker Dü already did it. I agree. And Kurt always said that Surfer Rosa completely changed how he wrote songs. (Riot grrl bands also influenced them around that time.) Check out Bleach, Nirvana's début, it basically sounds like Scratch Acid, minus a few songs like About A Girl.

I'd be very surprised if they were inspired by Squirrel Bait, as they were completely unknown outside of Kentucky, pre-Slint-fame, as far as I understood the Slint documentary (Breadcrumb Trail). Of course, they were punks, and into punk, so it's not completely impossible. But, personally, I don't hear any Squirrel Bait in Nirvana. Not really any Replacements either. I guess you can email Novoselic and ask!

Yes, this was my point, actually. :)

P.S.
In case anyone thinks I'm ripping on Nirvana, I think Nirvana are great! I don't like the sound of their records (except for the brilliant Albini 20th anniversary In Utero mix, which is absolutely fantastic), but I love their songs.

P.P.S.
Sorry about derailing the thread. :(
