Roland boutiques and pricing
I have a JX-03 and got it for $199. I like it and figured I'd try for the Ju-06 but apparently they've been discontinued? And now people are asking $450 and up for them. Are all the Roland boutiques discontinued?

From what I’ve heard, word is they’ve stopped production on the JP-08, JX-03, and JU-06. So, whenever they run out, that’ll be the end of. That is, if internet hearsay has any real meaning

$199 for one of these is a really good price. They seem to be pretty good synths, and the smaller footprint is a plus in my opinion..
Roland just released the boutique version D-50 so they're definitely not all discontinued.
People pissed all over these and the Yamaha Reface but both series are actually pretty good.

I talked to a Sweetwater rep a week ago, and he told me their system still shows all products as active, except the JU-06, which was discontinued months ago. Considering that Musician's Friend and other shops have stopped selling the JP-08 and the JX-03, however, I think that corporate buyers know that these two are on the way out (a matter of when, not if).
The hoarding of the JU-06 is absurd, though, and that will taper off in the next 6 months or so. Of course if you add that to your Reverb feed, you'll probably find someone reasonable (eventually), who's asking $200-250. It's just a matter of patience and opportunity.
On the plus side, I think more Boutiques will be coming in 2018, including the coveted CR-78. Next year will be the 40th anniversary of its debut, and I think we'll see an expanded version of it in the same $349 range. ---The original sells for $1,200 - 1,600 online. It's the model used by Radiohead in recent years, as well the sound of Phil Collins' "In The Air Tonight."

Hmm, well I'll have to sit and wait for a reasonable price on a JU-06.
Yeah, the JX-03 is pretty awesome for $199

Damn, didn't realize that about the JU-06, I was hoping to get one down the line. That sucks!

Re: Roland boutiques and pricing
from what i remember they said that the boutiques were gunna be limited production. atleast for the first run i'm pretty sure they said so from the jump.
i think the low prices were due to blowouts/closeouts at retail outlets.

I played my friend ju-06 the other day and it was real nice. I hadn’t realized how great it would sound. Definitely interested in checking out more as they come.

JU-06 is amazing, glad I bought it when it came out so I can keep my Juno 60 home when gigging. Couple things I HATE of these boutique series are the non existing physical pitch/mod sticks & transpose buttons. Seriously annoying AF and killed the expressiveness. Btw, pic porn..

At this point the only thing I really don’t like is that there’s no way to transpose sequences on the original three boutiques. The new ones seem to be able to do that, but the original ones lack that for some reason.

Now all we need is for Yamaha to do a Boutique version of the CS-80 so I don't have to spend $3000 to even consider building Deckard's Dream.

edit: shit, my bad. Thought the DD was based on the Jupiter 8, not the CS-80.
