Nemesis Algo Question

Post by peaches »

So I had a search and remarkably there doesn't seem to be a dedicated Nemesis thread, and my question didn't really fit with the other threads relating to the pedal so here.

I'm getting a Nemesis early next week finally, but after running through the manual I can't get my head around a couple aspects of the algo/preset sections. Basically, I get that you can burn the 'bonus' algorithms to slots on the encoder on the pedal, but can you burn algorithms/engines to preset slots that you don't have as one of your 12 main algorithms/engines? In effect gaining more than 12 algorithms available on the pedal without having to use the app?

I also guess the difference between burning a patch to a preset slot rather than an engine slot is that the former saves knob positions, and the latter doesn't? Or am I totally misunderstanding this aspect of the pedal :?:

Double also, what are your guys' favourite engines? I've checked out UC's patches on YT which all sound super cool and I will be stealing, but are there any engines that you guys think work better than others?

Thanks all :)

This is correct. You can change it to have 8 presets instead of 4 if you hook it up to a computer and fiddle with some settings. I find having 8 presets for really complicated settings and your favorite sound engines on the wheel to be the easiest way of using it live (if you hold down the tap tempo while bypassed it toggles through your presets). The new Binson modes sound good if you mess with the low freq in and out in the app, so be sure to peep that.

Ah thats exactly what I was hoping! Think I understand it now! So if I made a patch on the app, and burned it to a slot on the wheel, every parameter would be saved except for those controlled by any of the knobs?

Yeah, I was messing about with the app, burned a couple of awesome sounds to a couple of slots on the wheel and one to a preset. The ones on the wheel didn't sound like they did when I was previewing, which confused me. The one in the presets was the same. It makes perfect sense when you think about it (you'd have to match the controls to get back to how it sounded in the preview), but I was like "huh?" for a while. Doy.

Thank you for this thread, I just got Antlerface's Nemesis yesterday & I'm gonna spend some quality time Neuroing today. I'll post my findings for sure.

I was messing with Nemesis and Neuro yesterday for the first time. Am I only the one who uses stereo inputs who finds it a pain in the keester that you have to plug in to Input 2 to use Neuro?

I actually hate the neuro app. One way app -> pedal communication can suck it.

I still love my nemesis... just feels like its Achilles heel.

Yes, sir. I basically use the presets plus one mode on the wheel with all the knobs set up properly. On presets I generally only mess with mix if needed and use the tap tempo/hold function.

Yeah it's not as sleek as the H9 with bluetooth, but then, its a pretty amazing price for what it does too. The way the app works (i'm guessing it uses audio messages to the pedal) means that theres no extra hardware. I guess.

And thanks for all the help UC!

Oh, if they actually have the long-cancelled desktop app forthcoming, they will likely get some of my cash!

It's out and it's awesome. I spent about two hours yesterday playing with it: No unplugging of input 2, no moving a volume fader up and down to see if the pedal will read it at that volume, no endless scrolling and moving between screens. It was actually fun! I now understand why so many love the Nemesis and if the reverse algorithm in the Ventris at least equals the one in the Polara, I'm getting two Ventris when they come out.

Yo so can anyone help me with the FX loop? I cannot fucking get it to work. I emailed Source & haven't heard back in over a week.
I have mine configured as guitar into Input 1, amp out from output 1. FX insert sends from Output 2 and returns at Input 2. I have made sure that "External Loop routing" (or whatever tf they call it) is enabled, but it simply doesn't work for me. Does anyone else have experience with the FX insert?

Also I'm hella stoked to try out this desktop editor

There's an fx loop? Hahaha. I didn't even know that and I've had one since almost the beginning.

Is there an option you have to turn on in the Neuro app? I recall something being in there about routing.

Also, maybe hit them up on Instagram or Talkbass. They are much more responsive there.
