Washburn Idol - any experience?

Post by Jero »

Anybody have experience with these guitars? Or other washburns for that matter?

I've honestly never really paid any attention to the company as a whole, but lately handled some in pawn shops and they seemed nice. The idols I guess were pretty expensive a few years back when new, but they seem to be going for less than $300 pretty regularly. I like the body style and they are light to boot!

Just looking for some hands on info from you guys :poke:

I used to GAS over one that was in a guitar mag I had as a kid. Shiet that guitar looked good. It received 5 stars iirc, but I guess that means nothing

My dad has a washburn and it's a good quality guitar, good company I think. those idols look nice though I've never tried one. Would probably go for it if I were in your shoes!

The store I work at got a used one a couple of months that was a set neck, flamed too, mahogany body with Duncan's and it was really rad. I'd definitely jump on one

The ones I tried felt great if you like a small neck. Over the years, the Idol body shape was used for a bunch of different guitars, though. I've always found it attractive.

Thanks for all the replies! The one in town I was looking at was a wi66pro with flamed top. They were only asking $250!
Alas, it was gone when I went to check it out again :grumpy: I got a picture I'll try and post.

That being said, I found a natural topped one online I like way better for not too much more so maybe I'll grab it. Really wanted to play one again beforehand though.

Edit: The one that got away...Image

A long time ago I had a Washburn RS-8V. It was good for what I was playing at that time.

Were you playing metal? Cause it looks like an epiphone turned shredmaster :joy:
