Hello all,
I am excited to make my first post. Here is my situation:
I am just getting into fuzz building so I figured I would start with a fuzz face since I had all the parts available.
I built the NPN version as listed here, the one where they give you the layout for the radioshack board, since I also had an extra one of those around.

Anyway, I built the circuit, wired up the jacks and plugged it in, to my surprise it worked and I actually like the fuzz sound (I know I can probably use better transistors etc.. but I just wanted to put something together real quick). I have an extra enclosure so I figured I would put the circuit in there and give it to a friend or something.
My question is this......when playing a hard note or chord with the fuzz it occasionally gets a choppy clipping like effect that I am not sure if it is a characteristic of the device or could indicate something wrong with the circuit. Other than that, I think it sounds pretty good for a one trick fuzz, I will wire in a 100k output pot and give it to a friend.
Thanks for your help!

Re: Help with first fuzz circuit (fuzz face clone)
I'd imagine if it sounds like an issue it's a biasing issue Changing R3 to a Trimmer/Variable Resistor will help bias the circuit,
Changing pedals from positive ground to negative ground (PNP to NPN) can also have an negative effect on the working of a circuit in some cases, but the fuzz face does work by clipping so it may be fine, read this article for some great info http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/f ... fffram.htm
