New synth spot in Portland

Post by echorec »

I found these guys on Instagram, when it was announced they'd be carrying these white RML boxes. The site is not fully fleshed-out, but for those of you in/around Portland, it might be worth a visit.

I should go check this out this weekend. I went to Control Voltage last weekend, and I felt like I spent way too much time playing with all the synths

I stopped in earlier this week, it is awesome. Tons of stuff set up for people to play with, owner is cool and really enthusiastic. He talked a lot about renting out big-ticket modules and drum machines, which sounded really exciting. ($35 to rent a Metasonix AssBlaster for a weeklong recording session instead of dropping what, $1700 on a used one that if I'm being honest, I do not really need to own...) Between that offer and the listening parties they're hosting, sounds like they're serious about contributing to Portland's synth community and shift some of the emphasis from Acquiring Expensive Toys toward Helping Artists Make/Share Art, which is refreshing. (As much as I love CV, and I know they host lectures regularly, but I think of it primarily as a toy store.)
KRUDLER on Bandcamp for all your noise rock & cinematic synth needs
TOTHENECK on Instagram for recording snippets, artwork, etc.
