Quick help on Mic Stands for Amps

Post by sergiomunoz74 »

So I finally got a Shure Sm57 to record here and there and would love to get a stand that is low profile and easy to setup. the less space it takes up the better because that way I wont have to take it down/apart every time I use it. What do you recommend, I see a lot of these clamp type things and those seem those most interesting to me. What are your thoughts on these, or any other type of stand. Thanks!

I bought one of the relatively inexpensive ones from GC (On Stage Stands?) that's just a short little boom with a heavy, cast metal base. Works great.

Haven't seen those—pretty cool! I guess the one drawback is that you couldn't pull the mic back very far. Maybe ideal for live situations where you'd be worried about a small stand getting kicked over?

Get a good one and it'll stay in place.

oh you said that. Yeah, get one. Some of them tend to have pretty shit strength in the bendable area so they tilt downwards, so look around a bit first on which one you're getting (or better yet go to a store and try them out).
These look great for sure, just wasn't sure of what people had though of them in terms of staying place and all that. Any particular brand you use, Im gonna go to guitar center and see what I find. Maybe CME or the fancier stores will have nicer clamps. or something.

That neck looks kinda wet noodle-y actually that griffin one looks decent I was also looking at this Ampclamp thing even if their site looks absolutely fucking awful.
