Ableton Launchpad murp?

anyone use one?

wannnnnt a sequencer with more than 16 steps. was wondering if there was a way to setup any of the Launchpads as a midi sequencer but instead of using it to play notes or trigger sequences in Live, send as a sequencer with SO MANY PADS AND STEPS OH MER GERD SO MANY STEPS.

because can't afford $700 for a Monome and the RN9090 LOOKS SO FUCKING BEAUTIFUL but might be vaporware.

can it do that sexy sequencer do?

I don't know if there is/aint any issues with this stuff on the current version of live, but the Top one is correct for 9.2 and as a M4L device the Novation one should be fine ay

murrrrrrr. looks like you have to be in Live though? not a deal breaker, but would be awesome to work as a standalone midi sequencer too.

AH soz I thought when you said "Ableton" launchpad I thought you meant through Ableton, cos Novation makes the launchpad so I was like "He want's to use Nov LP as a step seq via Ableton.

I literally did this:

And then top video is the third party option and then there was a Vid from Novation in the Sidebar showing their M4L device


But yeah I reckon you might struggle to use it as a standalone sequencer. These things need a DAW in order to live. And it totally can't hurt to have Ableton open anyway. You could have different sequences and instruments on different channels and stuff and you can be constantly recording the output of all the shit you are sequencing ay. Or you could come up with a sequence you like by using the Launchpad as a step sequencer, get everything singing and then save that shit as MIDI clips and move onto the next one, build up a library of them shits.

Check out the Gridlock software -- I haven't stayed up on recent developments, but if it can't provide grid sequencing (looks like it can?) itself with a launchpad there is a free version that I have used for monome emulation.

Love the walnut but that might make it old enough to not be varibright. Happy to help date editions of you make a go for it.
