Favorite Sub-$100 pedal?

Post by neonblack »

Suddenly finding myself POOR AS FUCK has got me wondering, what are your favorite sub $100 pedals and why?

Doesn't matter what effect. I'm just curious about some hidden gems in the cheapish range.

Used prices count too. On that subject, anyone played with a DOD Carcosa? Ive seen them used for like $90-95 and it seems really versatile for the money.

Also, I'm drinking to either celebrate the end of the world or the close call.

Modulation I'm a fan of old arion stuff. Otherwise my motto before I could afford it is, what's cheap on ebay? There's some surprisingly cool MIJ stuff from the 80's sub $50. Old DOD stuff is pretty fun.

Carcosa fuzz sounds rad, definitely one to try one someday.

DIY some stuff on vero too.

Carcosa is $84.99 new with PGS's pedal15. No reason to spend any more than that.

Tetanus Booster, because I'm a self serving asshole. :animal:

(I should get around to cracking a beer for the same reasons, I'm just glad the push is over and we can prepare for actually working toward improvement - regardless of what clown wins the chair we'll need that).

I was just listening to this demo earlier today:

Carcosa sounds fantastic. DOD did a great job. Nice work, pd~!

Also, don't discount cheap Japanese pedals from the Eighties. If you look around, you can find some very good bargains. :D

Good to know! I need to buy a cheap amp before i buy any more pedals but the Carcosa is high on my list.

I had a tetanus booster for a while. Shit was rad! I miss my old Doper though. Maybe instead of a TB I'll put a down payment on a Doper

Came to agree with you on the Tetanus Booster.

And for beer reminder.

Carcosa is good too.

If you're willing to go digital and aren't scared of menu diving, I can't recommend the Boss GT-001 enough. $200 used will get you amp modelling, crazy routing options, usb audio interface, 3 delays at once, reverbs, freezes, assign envelope/LFO control to every conceivable parameter, intelligent ring mod, slicer, fake feedback, pitch shifted delays, tera echo, etc..

(disclaimer: I'm selling one right now, please don't take this as a sales pitch)

The GT-1 has built in footswitches but it doesn't have parallel routing, which is a huge downgrade.

For a Behringer? WOW. Sometimes when you shoot for the moon you only end up with jizz in your eye. I trust that isn't a confirmed sale, if it is someone needs a quick head check.

+1 for DOD. I have a FX25 which is awesome for creating subby tones with a bass, if you set the sensitivity low (high?) enough so that it doesn't trigger the envelope. Run a synth through it and you have instant claviness.

I wouldn't be surprised if it has something to do with Juan Alderete having/using one.

Also Devi Ever. Most of the 2-knob fuzzes can be found for less than 100$ new.

I picked up a Caroline Olympia Fuzz for $85 from Guitar Center's used site. Really liking it.

Others are all well under $100:
Boss OD-3
Proco You Dirty Rat
Ibanez DE7 (if you want a delay)
DOD 250 reissue

Used:
Zoom MS-70CDR
Boss DD-7
