That thread is begging for a Brazilian rosewood flamewar.

Know what? I love Gibson. Sometimes I pick up a Gibson and I'm all "DAYUM! This guitar is awesome. It's like it wants my playing to get me laid!"
But every fucking time I look one over I find something that's just... unacceptable.
Then again, all the expensive guitars that don't have ridiculous problems is boring and sterile...
Oh hai, Mr. Squier.

I guess this means I got lucky when they shipped my LP VM Studio.
Do you like listening to homemade music? Me too. Why don't you try one of mine?

Oh hai, Mr. Squier.
That's why I always buy epiphone instead. Same great looks, better QC somehow. Which makes no f'ing sense whatsoever.

gibson is RACIST !!!
Actually, after reading the linked article, what is truly "racist" is presuming that because Gibson shafted a "hip hop artist" they are now a "racist" company when nowhere in the article is it stated that the "artist" is non-Caucasian. Furthermore, "Gibson is racist" presumes that some how, the company as a whole is prejudiced against a race, based on it's alleged shafting of a "hip hop artist." And we all know that all "hip hop artists" are of the non-Caucasian orientation and we should presume that hip hop is a non-Caucasian music genre, right?
Ah, a triumvirate of bullshit. I hate hip hop/rap, I think it's a musical form and that has produced very little artistic, aesthetic, and cultural value. But that has nothing to do with the topic, just like Gibson "hating hip hop."
Now, back on topic, I have a Gibson LP that was stamped with a "2" on it's head stock (which means it is some how not up to their standards, like b-stock, and in my case it has a small knot in the wood that is on the back of the guitar) and it plays and feels better than any other guitar that I've ever played. And I own three Fenders and one Gibson. Say what you will about the price, but I have never felt a guitar that was more "right" in my hands.

I have 2 Les Pauls (a 73 deluxe and 96 Special) and they're both amazing guitars. However, I also have a friend that works for the Nashville plant that tells me they treat their employees like total shit. That could explain a lot.

I don't see the brilliance in rap music. A rap artist could gather so much more respect being a poet. And it'd probably sound better and allow them to be taken so much more seriously.
Hip hop is fuckin cool, but I'm mostly into the instrumental, DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, and RJD2 kind of vibe. Would like to find more good shit but everything I've seen around here hasn't really suited my tastes well.
My opinion.
Ps. Gibson, racist? Come on.
And as far as their quality, I have a Gibson Les Paul Studio and it plays beautifully.
Remember that kid finding a chicken's head in his 5-piece McNuggets?
