Fredric Effects Dresden Synth Fuzz

Post by DhanoSuzuki »

Any thoughts? Seems to have flown under most people's radar. ILF is my go-to when trying to find crazy fuzzes, especially ones of the "synthy" variety, but a search of the board only shows one solitary mention of this pedal.

Its both an upper and lower octave fuzz, but supposedly it is two fuzz circuits running in tandem (one upper octave and one lower octave, obvs). So you can dial in upper or lower octave, but you can also dial in upper and lower octave at the same time. From clips, this sounds a lot better than the effect I get when running a single fuzz into a green ringer and lower octave pedal at the same time.

Only one knob, for volume, and a three-way switch.

I've got one arriving in the mail either today or tomorrow.

Sounds pleasantly nasty.

I like the natural sound of it, but it seems like it'd also be a good "supplemental pedal" to use at the same time with some other fuzz. I'm looking forward to trying it with the Wolf Computer.

Official blurb:
"The Dresden Synth Fuzz is a quite unique pedal. Combining two synthy-sounding octave fuzzes run in parallel - an upper and lower octave fuzz - it covers the whole frequency range. It's dirty and snarly on the low notes, almost like a malfunctioning analogue synth, and relentlessly precise on the higher notes. It is always rewardingly noisy!

The big synth knob is simply the volume control. The small switch in the upper left selects either the upper or lower octave fuzzes or both of them combined."

I generally get bored by one knob fuzzes. One knob anythings to be honest.

But this little fella has always had me intrigued.

I almost forgot. Here's another synth fuzz built by Tim (from Fredric) with a little more control:

Also sounds pretty good. I've had my eye on it:
