Recommend me effects that sound like the Earth

Post by Iommic Pope »

What sounds like the planet to you?
Like the dirt, the rocks, the molten core, the liquid magma, the gravitational field, grass growing, trees witnessing the passing of ages, the 4 billion year grind from formation to now, the transit of our orbit?

You guys did interstellar work on the rain delay thread, so I have high hopes here.

To me, a RAT with the gain dimed gets that "4 billion year grind" tone.

Thought of this

I don't know. I'm thinking flange/phase, delay and maybe pitch shifter?

I feel like a lot of stuff in this video makes me think of like a little colony of mythical people living underneath the earth

Edit: OH OH OH also a looper can be used to simulate some drones and randomness of the earth

Ooooh. I like to use a PS-5 to pitch down my bass 2 octaves, played into a bass big muff pi, into the ring mod on a line6 m5 with the rate set low. The vague g/rumbling sound always makes me think how tectonic plates are moving beneath us. If you tune the ring mod into a sweet spot on one note and use the PS-5 on whammy setting you can add in some jerky surprises..........

Likewise Devi Ever Soda Meiser Noise Floor with the chaos switch on and the noise off sounds like gas fighting it's way through a layer of rock and eventually erupting out.

I never thought of it as a natural/earth sound til now but I also like using a whammy into a reverse reverb 50/50 dry/wet, sweep up an octave and the reverse verb sweeps it back down. Gravity!

2016 - the year Pope slowly turns into a hippie.

Dwarfcraft TGD does some weird noises that probably can be a bit planet-y. Also, ring mods.

Thunder:

RM-1N. Tone rolled back on both pedal and guitar/bass. Post-gain dimed. Pre-gain off. LP filter. Big reverb on brink of oscillation (feedback at 2-2:30). Mid to high verb mix.

I like this thread. A Big Muff at full tilt always has that mountain crumbling vibe to me.

I just think of a gurgling, glitched out octave down being looped into a DL4 and then half timed in reverse would do the trick. Be careful not to hit the brown note
