10" Speaker Recommendations?

Post by skullservant »

Dudes.
I've got a 1x10 cab that I'd like to use more.
Currently loaded with a Celestian Vintage g10. I can't get over the mids spike or the blanket over the top end.
Using amp gain and pedal gain and it's just a little too over the top for me.
Looking for something kind of neutral that doesn't weigh a ton and is efficient in terms of loudness vs weight.
8 ohms, 60+ watts.

Eminence Ramrod and RaGin Cajun. I have both in a 2x10 and they both rock.

75w each and 99dB, I think.

If you want an open top, I think a JBL K-110 should handle that wattage. JBL's last hurrah for Alnico, with a chunk more power handling than the earlier stuff. I had a pair in some kind of sealed Fender cab when I was a kid. Sounded great with some watts pushing them, a bit shrill with a silverface Bandmaster Reverb at house/dorm volume. I dunno how that'll go with your aluminum-necked dudes, but I assume you have tone knobs. I think someone was trying to move a K-110 (with a homemade cab) on Baltimore CL for a decent price not too long ago, so that could still be out there.
