Fucking ouch dude.

That shit happens on my Les Paul sometimes.

Also I had one of those wall mount guitar hanger things that holds it by the headstock and I guess the stud it was mounted to was rotted or something (or maybe I'm just a fool and missed the stud) and that shit fell off the wall right as I was walking past one day. Caught it just in time but my board was underneath it. Think of the devastation!

I say you just peel off everything that will come off easily, sand it down to make it sort of smooth between layers, and stain the wood underneath bright purple or blue or something and then clear coat it. Acid relic.

Also my new band name is goddamn Acid Relic.

There's a similar chip on my Revolt Yellow MIJ '69RI Mustang.

The installation of the strap screw was done poorly at the factory and there was always a crack.

Eventually, a big section just came off.

It's not very noticeable (big yellow guitar, basswood body, good spot) but....annoying.

I broke the leather end on my jag's strap years ago. Luckily, I had a good handle on the neck and it didn't fall. I sent my singer to the music store down the street and he got me another strap. Broke that one in under 10 minutes but caught my guitar witch my foot hacky sack style. Busted out my freaking super sharp knife that already wounded a few people that thought it was fun to play with knives. I cut a new hole in the strap and it cut so fast it went through my pointer finger on my fretting hand. Cut the tip off and it was hanging to the side. Played the rest of the show (people from the street asked to watch us because they liked what they heard) bleeding every where...I started to get light headed...but finally walked to rite aid and bought tape and fixed it...scar is still there and magically the tip reattached itself.

Gear wise...all the time stupid things happen. Usually broken straps and it falling on asphalt, stuff like that.

Dude, hate when that kind of shit happens. Letting those nicks and dings happen over time is fun, but it fucking blows when they don't happen in the way you want

I have a white K-Line and had owned it for about a week. I was recording at a friend's house, sitting down, when I noticed all of this white powder in my lap. Turns out the nitro on those guitars is crazy thin, and the clip on my pocket knife basically sanded off about a 1" piece on the underside.

Once I stood up too quickly while playing my Pbass sitting at my desk and I caught the patch cable on the edge which snapped the pickguard, ripped out the input, and stripped the screwhole.

So, one time my guitar fell off a moving car...
Lamp.jpg
I had given it to a friend to rewire, as at the time I didn't yet know how. He took it in to band practice to access the issue, after which he put it back in the BLACK gig bag. When they loaded up, he put the BLACK gig bag on top of his BLACK car to put other things in, and this was well after dark, and there the guitar was left forgotten. Until three miles down the road.

When I got it back, the neck was snapped off and the body was in two pieces. It was a Jay Turser SG, my first decent guitar. He replaced the guitar, and I did the only sensible thing: Knock the truss rod out with a drill, screwdriver and hammer, and run a cord to turn it into a lamp.

les paul gold top... i drove to minnesota and it was in my trunk. brought it in let it sit for enough time to acclimate before opening the case... no dice. now there are some pretty crazy checking and the finish is freakin peeling off in some places, like the cold detached the finish from the wood. and it's a 2013, after the magic year where, according to shithouses like mylespaul.com, the nitro has enough plasticizer to make a lego death star.

BUT IT'S COOL SO.

I did that with a Johnny Walker bottle in Industrial Arts class in high school. :thumb: Don't know whatever happened to that lamp. :idk:

Bought a Hohner acoustic guitar for under $200 for the sole purpose of beating it to shit, and having a relic'd out box of mojo for playing the blues. In 8 years, I have yet to be able to achieve a single ding in the adamantium finish they dip those things in. *sob*
