GY!BE Fuzz

Post by fcknoise »

Hey fuzz connaisseurs, I was sitting here, minding my own business and studying with lift your skinny fists like antennas to heaven in the background when the solo in Static/World police and friendly fire kicked in and I was like "whoa this is the exact fuzz sound I've been looking for to complete my gain section". I started googling a bit but it's kinda hard since they've used so much different stuff and who knows which one of them is playing it? Can anyone help me out? The section I'm talking about starts at 33:50

It's probably played with a screwdriver right? Big muff of sorts?

I'm gonna listen to the copy you gave me on my way to work tomorrow and try to figure it out.
I know the section you're talking about, it does sound like it's raked with an object or something. Bow?
Listening to it on my phone it just sounds like a little low gain tube amp pushed to hurting point.
Also sounds like single coils.

Keeping in mind I know nothing about these guys but you are making me care.
WWPD?

Can't listen to the song right now, but if it is bowed, could it be Sophies violin? She ran it through a Boss GT-3 in those days.

I had to check some live videos out and see if it was bowed or with the screwdriver, and it seems in this vid that it is indeed a screwdriver.

The Pope seems to be right about pickups, kinda, since Efrim is using a p90 loaded LP. Maybe you are right in that it's just a pushed amp? I have a master volume orange of sorts at the band practice space. Will bring screwdriver and push the shit out of it and see what happens. Thanks everyone

And Pope, glad I'm making you care, they are def worth a few listens. Best live act I've ever seen probably
