I literally have no idea how ohmage works in relation to chaining cabs, and every time I try to do research, I just get more confused. Help me figure out my situation.
I'm running a Sovtek Mig 60 into a Sound City L410 rated at 16 ohms. (The head has single outs for 4, 8, and 16 ohms.) The cab has another out for what I assume to be another cab, but I'm wondering if I can even run another cab with this one already running at 16? Any help would rule. Thanks!
Help me understand chaining cabs.

Re: Help me understand chaining cabs.
Yes, you can definitely chain cabs, just have to match the ohms to the output on the head. Usually the output jack on cabs is wired in parallel with the input. If the other cab is also 16 ohm, then the two cabs in parallel would make 8 ohms, and you can just run that off the 8 ohm tap. If the second cab is 8 ohm, then the parallel load would 5.3 ohms. You could run that from the 4 ohm tap on the head, but it will be unbalanced; the 8 ohm cab would be getting twice as much power as the 16 ohm cab.adm307 wrote:I literally have no idea how ohmage works in relation to chaining cabs, and every time I try to do research, I just get more confused. Pretty much it's "run two of the same rating cab" and check the manual for the amp hardcore.
