Simple tap-tempo delay recs?

Post by sleep_debt »

Looking for a simple tap-tempo delay (something like a Chrono Delay) - smallish footprint, not too many features (don't need save banks, etc.), somewhere around ~$200 used. Any hidden gems or new companies making anything like this?

i already have a headrush ;) - i use ~ 3 delays at a time; two non-tap (one digital, one analog), one with a tap tempo for accurate delays. i LOVE my headrush...but they're so goddamn big.

DD-5! Amazing things can be done!

If someone is crazy enough to sell an in limbo II cheap that would be a cool option.

Yeah it's on the 'ish' side of smallish, for sure. DD-5 is a good suggestion. I feel like the Line 6 Echo Park is still pretty cheap, as well.

never heard of this, will definitely check it out! not opposed to an echo park or dd-5, either - just kind of making sure there's nothing new or under the radar that i haven't heard of.

Ibanez Echo shifter is smaller than the headrush, has tap tempo, and costs about 100 bucks.

This interests me as well! I get so overwhelmed by too many options on loopers. The boss ones are nice, but I hated holding down the switch. I know, I'm lazy. LOL

Looks like it might be too small if they added the external tap tempo switch terminal. Good catch.

External Tap Tempo:

History Lessons with serial numbers greater than 5025 are equipped from the factory with a red external tap tempo input jack. If you have purchased an earlier version, Alexander Pedals will be pleased to update your unit to the latest specs at no charge.

So...purchasing an external tap tempo switch would make it even further beyond your budget.

Can't vouch for the reliability or build quality, but otherwhise the ES-2 is a great bang for the buck imo. Can't think of a single other $100 analog delay pedlol that has tap tempo, and a full second of delay time. Don't really care for the modulation persoanlly, but than again, I don't think I've ever come across a delay pedal that had onboard modulation that didn't sound silly or over the top or whatever to me. The oscillation switch is awesome though, and so is the 'rate' fader. I'm not sure how long that little flimsy thing will survive with me moving it with my foot constantly, but if I ever fuck it up, there's a good chance I'll replace the es-2 with another es-2 :)

Another vote for the Cusack stuff. They have this under your budget, but once again you'd have to get an external tap which might put you over http://cusackmusic.com/cusack-delay-tme/

Also fuck yeah Shiner, dude.
