Feeling content...

Post by fcknoise »

Have you ever reached a point where you just don't want to buy anything? I feel like I could literally go straight pedge right now and be happy. I was in the checkout for a recovery endless summer when I was like "wait a second, I'm actually very happy with the shit I got?" I'll probably end up buying it still, just bc I'm an idiot who always changes my mind. But I kinda just had a pretty new revelation that I feel done with a board.

Maybe I'll build another board instead :excellent:

I'm actually very content with my bass board. Any purchase now is more for experimentation, demoing and fun rather than any (perceived) need to change things up. If I don't like it, I'll flip it. I'm waiting for a HEXE Revolver DX to see if it can knock the Raptio off and I'm definitely keen on checking out most of the Ezhi&Aka line. Seppukuslimes are a given. My tabletop is really where it's at ATM. It will be a free-for-all pedal and instrument wise, for jams and live improvs. It feels nice to have something that's less set in stone.

i haven't bought any gear in about 8 months, really have had no desire to. i was 100% content before i moved and had to ditch my amp and store my RE-201 but i'll buy another amp when i can afford and retrieve the latter eventually so i'd say i'm still content just knowing that i have the bulk of my bases covered and know exactly what to acquire if i end up gigging again. i think i reached the point where i can distinguish clearly between NEED and WANT and if i don't have disposable income i won't waste my time salivating over stuff i want, generally. if i had disposable income i would probably buy a couple of things that that i think would potentially suit me well (rainger echo-x, ehx mel9) but meh.

Gah..so much this.
I'm getting a Les Paul tomorrow actually, been without any humbuckers for over a year. But then, my tubes are dead. Maybe I need a solid state worth a damn. And my strat could use better pups, maybe a sustain block? My lap steel is pretty good. I need to get laquer to get my tele back together. I need (want?) a bass. And an amp for that. Maybe one amp to cover guitar and bass? Or separate? I NEED recording gear...my phone isn't cutting it. Good for ideas, not finished products.

So.....no. Not content. I mean, I have enough to keep myself entertained jamming and writing, but there's lots of things that would make me more satisfied.

I've been pretty dang content for the past few months, but it hasn't been without continued gear acquisition. Waiting for a pedal and some cables that are coming in the mail. Just at a much milder rate and more within the proper budget.

i'm staying pedge till the new round of the generation loss comes out. there's endless pedals i'd like to try but i'm saving for non-gear stuff right now and my board makes me real happy as it is. i am putting a new guitar together though, cuz fuck yeah baritone telecaster. i think i have everything i need but i'm sure after its together and i get to play it there will be just ONE more thing to swap out. or two... or yeaaah...

In the throes of a pretty major depressive episode, so currently overthinking which things I can sell that i won't be kicking myself for when i get out of this slump. Everything? Done with music now? I know that's not true, but i feel like i could downsize so much and not feel a thing right now. Pedals, bass equipment, clothes, rare books. Keep two groove boxes and a synth, two pairs of shorts, two pairs of pants, some shirts for different seasons, and give everything away.

Please show me this post in a month. It'll be cute.

This lingering midwest winter bullshit has me climbing the walls. Nothing like four inches of snow at the end of march when I just want to go outside and get away from life. Anyway, there's nothing wrong with giving away excess clothes and keeping it simple. One less decision to make everyday. Maybe just throw your gear in box and don't look at it instead of a wholesale liquidation though.

Quite happy with the pedalboard right now, but the plan is to get a Eventide H9 in a couple of months. Doesn't need it, but could be useful.

Is satisfied with the guitars(EGC TT2 Baritone + Puresalem Reverberation) as well. Will get a backup for the baritone eventually, but no rush.

But I've just started doing electronic music, so of course I now I "need" a lot of stuff I've never though of before. Synths, drum machines, samplers, midi cables, etc. And a new macbook(mine is from 07) and more recording gear.

I've been content with my board for a good while. Been flipping through loads of oscillating fuzzes, because I wanted to see if any of them would give me better tones than the ones I have, and also because I'm a obsessed maniac. But now I've got the last few I've been wanting to try incoming, ready for a final stand-off. I want to try a couple of things on my tabletop, like Kent, but my board has been pretty much the same for a long while, with a few changes of secondary pedals.

I'm happy with my stuff. Doesn't mean I won't buy more if something catches my eye, but I can do everything I want to and then some.

But another brush for the guitar palate is never a bad thing.

Last night I finally used the EQD Arpanoid in a beautiful, musical loop, and it sounded right at home and exactly how I wanted it to sound. NOW I'm content.

I've been very content with my music gear for a very good while now. Things I want now are more for fun of exploration than anything else.
