So I got a bit carried away at a show the other night and ended up scraping my Jag's neck against my amp for feedback toanz. Stupid stupid stupid! I am very pissed off at myself. Anyway, now a couple of frets have scrapes in them. Nothing too crazy, but they def aren't smooth- I'm hoping it looks worse than it is (the strings are bent on the respective frets, and I haven' seen how it plays with new strings yet BUT with the couple of ones that aren't fucked it seems fine...)
Is this likely to cost a lot to have them smoothed out again? Or could i do it myself with some fine steel wool or something? Here's a couple of shoddy pictures...
If the scratches are deep enough you might notice them if/ when bending notes.
Otherwise it SHOULD be fine but you'll know when you play it whether or not it really is fine.
What he said. Some of my frets look worse than that (mostly because of doing the same sort of stupid shit I think), but if the strings don't catch in the scratches you have no problems.
Yeah, I have some dents like that around the 6-14th frets on my Jaguar, a few being worse than how yours look, and it's fine. You won't know til you change strings and mtry to play around up there, but I think it shouldn't be a problem.
