Guitar synth pedals in music

Post by chrisdermo »

Can anyone recommend some music (any style!) that features guitar / bass with synth pedals, preferably with fuzz as well. I'm well aware of king crimson / muse / seefeel / the locust / smashing pumpkins / fennesz
I guess I'm looking less for ambient stuff and more for rock / pop / electronic, etc! the heavier the better
Trying to get some inspiration for how to use mine.
YouTube links if you have the time!

Hm, Lightning Bolt can be sorta synthy? Bass, not guitar though. Then you got stuff like Three Trapped Tigers, Giraffes? Giraffes!, Adebisi Shank and And so I Watch You From Afar.

I second these bands, and enjoy all of them. Battles, too.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

Been enjoying Giraffes?Giraffes! in my breaks at work today.

Any suggestions of anything a bit slower and fuzzed out?

Kevin parker mentioned recently that surprisingly a lot of the syth sounds on Tame Impala's Currents are a Roland GR-55, including all the synths on the recording of this song:

I like this record a lot:
https://bigbigbusiness.bandcamp.com/alb ... waterworks

And Head For The Shallows:
https://bigbigbusiness.bandcamp.com/alb ... -shallow-2

But I haven't followed their later output that much (except for Quadruple Single, which has Guns, which is amazing live).

awesome, that's my train journey home from work sorted!

How about any music with thick fuzzed filter sweeps? Or excessive use of splattery prunes and custard / foldback distortion / geiger counter-esque stuff? Frantabit using obliterate mode?

In the Dead Weather, bassist Jack Lawrence is almost always playing through a MicroSynth with the fuzz cranked.

This band are totally blowing me away! Their gear must be totally drool worthy.

Anyone for any more?
