Where to buy unfinished pedals?

Post by echoraven »

I'm looking to experiment with custom art on pedals and did a google search which seemed to come up blank.

I know there are kits out there, but I'm hoping for a functional pedal that just has no art.

My first victim will (hopefully) be a Devi Ever Hyperion (Devi, not Dwarftcraft era) but I'd like to do several to gauge interest.

Thoughts?

do the art before you build the pedal most of the time. we use acid to cut the design into the metal. paint can ruin potentiometers and switches. when I did a production run I drilled the box then put the sticker on the front. I would suggest you just buy a 1590B on ebay and paint it. you can hand it off to a builder later. if you know what you are doing you can buy any pedal and take it apart for paint and then put it back together. this is pretty much how I do work for people when I need to add a drill hole for a mod but I don't want metal shards in the customer's pedal.

Thanks.
You actually gave me a pretty good idea.
I can get the enclosure, knobs pots and footswitch to mock up my ideas. It would be quite a bit cheaper than experimenting with actual functioning pedals until I get the process down pat.
What I'm hoping to do: A good friend of mine is a fine artist. Does some gorgeous art. I'm a graphic artist, I'm good at solving visual problems. I want to put his art on a pedal. I found a "process" someone came up with and want to try it. My Devi era Hyperion will probably be the first guinea pig since Devi was a sticker kind of gal, disassembly and wet the housing and it should come right off.
