Yeah, I posted it for people who might be.
I know even before she stopped production her prices had gone up a bit. So, it's a little expensive.

I'm assuming it's for the licensing. I had a Frantone Bassweat and it was fucking amazing.

I actually had that already typed up to respond to ramonovski before you responded. I was just too lazy to change it before I hit submit.
You're certainly entitled to express your opinion. I wouldn't think of suggesting otherwise.
I'm just saying that I know there's a limited market for Fran's pedals and simply wanted to make those people aware that she's trying to start production again and has a Kickstarter. That's all.

Fran is a fucking legend.
I have no interest in a 300 dollar fuzz that has less than 9 knobs. It'd be good if she you know, designed something new... But whatever. Still pretty psyched to see her back in the pedal business.

Yeah, I'll admit, $300 for a plain vanilla fuzz is a lot. No disputing that.goroth wrote:Fran is a fucking legend.

Have you guys even watched the video though? She says she's gonna build newer designs.

Re: Frantone Kickstarter for those of you who may be interes
Retail price for a kickstarter item that may never be delivered: laughably insane.
If I'm going to pay $300 for a pedal, it's going to come from a dealer or vendor with which there's recourse, or a builder I have an established relationship with.

Re: Frantone Kickstarter for those of you who may be interes
Fran is a legend...EHX thought highly enough of her to contract her to redesign the big muff...that is up there with Mike Beigel in terms of EHX respect. She has a pretty good track record (like Beigel) on delivering a product...taste is another thing...but these are professional, proven people (as far as I know...I don't know every one's personal details). Kickstaters can be good and can be terrible. You are buying into the pitch that the person is presenting....if you don't like Fran/the product/the format, then don't put forth money. That is your right as a consumer...don't have to bash them really.
Also, I think kickstarter may be a way some people see to advertise and gauge overall interest in a product...if you can't get 3k in sales in a month, then is it worth it overall for investors, licencing, sourcing, etc? It may also just take them down a different path. I'm not the biggest fan of kickstarter, but there are some benefits in it for both sides...I have funded a few (nothing gear related...just short comic runs and some other random stuff...always got everything quickly and some neat stuff). I think overall, a lot of pedal companies over the years have been kind of fly by night operations...like it was fun until they realized the work and deadlines that went into it...also, don't let bad experiences ruin everything else...there are truely good people and products out there that don't really know another way to advertise or promote (or market research...personally, I wouldn't want to deal with some of the retailers, though some seem great)).
In this case of kickstarter, the product is already developed, tested, and known...little risk in delivery. Failed cases usually have no actual product, testing, or even research done (even copyright wise...see submarine pickup) and have only presented a mock up or idea pitch...this has none of those flags.
As for the $300 price tag...well, I guess I look at it as an investment in the company. And I hope she does well, but I am not going to put down 300 (mostly because I am just not that interested...if it was the Frantone ring mod...sure). But, for a lot of people in the guitar world, 300 or above is about the going price for a lot of fuzzes and overdrives (D*A*M world, random "mojo" builds, that new Thorpy or whatever company that tonereport keeps pushing)...heck, Keely pedals aren't that much less. In an era where people blow thier "expendable income" on a lot of different things, it really isn't that much. In the wide range of costs of pedals, eh, it is what it is...and if you are a big Frantone fan...then probably totally worth it. We could weight a lower price point vs. success and popularity, but that could go on forever...when I was pricing comics for sale (to print) the difference between companies who sold an issue for 2.50 (making profit like 20 cents or less per issue) and 4.00 an issue was negilable; it was all about content, marketing, and popularity...people will find a way to pay if they want a product.
I really wish Fran the best...really interested to see what the new designs are and really hope everything works out even if the kickstarter doesn;t get funded (13 days left and no sales...doesn't look good, which is probably why this was done to see what sales could be like).
Thanks for posting Chankgeez.

Re: Frantone Kickstarter for those of you who may be interes
I hope this is successful, would be cool to have Fantone making new pedals and such
probably not going for it mostly out of being cheap/working towards selling/buying a bigger place this spring
Generally pre-order stuff like this is cheaper than the retail price would be but it doesn't seem to be the case here.
Kinda curious why you can't back the project for less for something like stickers/t-shirt/an angry call to an ex-girlfriend.....it's 295 or nothing.

Yea, kinda wish there was shirts and stuff too (would totally get some of that)...but I totally see this as market research because only the pedals are being offered at retail...hbombgraphics wrote:I hope this is successful, would be cool to have Fantone making new pedals and such

300 is just a lot to spend for me right now (with new LAL on the horizon...among other things like tires haha).
