I just moved and all the Muffs I've played with are humming really badly. Doesn't really seem to happen with other fuzzes, only Muffs.

I've tried using a surge protector/power strip with EMI & RFI filtering and that helps only marginally.

Bought a receptacle tester today and the outlet is wired properly.

What are you peoples using as a line/power conditioner that isn't too expensive and will eliminate my hum?

Isolated power supply worked here for the most part, but my amp still hums off my power. When I go back to onespots or the non-isolated thing, it hums like crazy.

About the receptacle tester...it will test right even if there is a ground break at some point. There are lots of problems with house and street wiring (America's infrastructure is getting old).

Other than that, I gave all I knew in the other thread. Good luck man! Will be watching myself! haha

Thank you, your lordship. The wiring should be OK considering that my landlord is a contractor and the place was fairly recently renovated.

I think I may finally need to ditch my 1 Spot and get a real power supply.

I'll also gladly now take recommendations for a new power supply.

(Yeah, D.o.S., I can just take my guitar out of the signal chain altogether and just boost the gain from the noise of my pedals and play that.)

Oh, one more thing I have found that works...if I have like a synth or amp on the same circuit as my pedals I get more hum. I find two circuits and run my amp on one and my pedals off another. That seems to help with the amp side hum...but it is one of those things that is easier said that done sometimes (esp without using an extension cord). Luckily there are 3 circuits in that room haha.

I like my voodoo labs (the small cheap one pp5?). The new isolated one spots look pretty good, but I got mine for like 105 on amazon or something. I know you are kinda like me, swapping pedals all the time with no like 2 pedal chains or anything (from what I have seen in your video descriptions). I find that 4 outs is usually enough...(esp when some other ones require their own adapter and some are battery powered). Best part of Amazon? I take all my pocket change to the coinstar and it counts it and doesn't charge a fee for amazon gift cards...which is how I got mine...took 100 dollars in pennys and nickels down to the grocery store and got that gift card.

Now what to do with $200 in aluminum cans?

When they redid this place, they apparently brought it way up to code. I have way way way more electrical outlets than I know what to do with. I haven't checked to see how many of them are on the same circuit yet though. (I just looked at my circuit breaker. A dozen circuits for the entire place and only two of 'em are for all the outlets. Not very promising. I guess I should've maybe checked that before I moved in. Lots of misspellings on the breaker panel too. "Heater" is spelled "hiter" and "kitchen" is spelled "kichen". Hopefully their wiring skills are better than their spelling. Hey, at least they're labeled and I didn't have to go through and see what's what.)

Also, now taking suggestions for "Muff-like" gated fuzzes.

Yea, passing code or inspection is usually easier than doing it right haha. If it is an apartment, it could be the supply coming in from the street or main panel too. Do your lights dim or slowly pulse [that you have noticed]? That could also be street problems. Also different times of the day might help.

Rf filtering is also helped by giving the romex a certain amount of twists per run, but no one really does that. Also, if they ran a light or appliance on the circuit that no one knows, that can make some noise. No way to tell without turning off breakers and walking it out.

Some of it might just be big cities. My absynth is noisy no matter what I do and I love it for that. It really likes Spanish radio [and I do too every no and again].

The AB-Synth I had was really noisy too.

According to the labels on the circuit breaker panel (I know, I know), the outlets are on their own circuits. I don't feel like going through all the circuits in the entire place to make sure that's correct. I think I'm getting pretty steady voltage unlike in my old place where the wiring was old and the lights did noticably dim. So, I'll probably just get a power supply with isolated outs and hope that gets rid of most of my signal noise. It's just pretty annoying. I like Muffs and I'd like to be able to play 'em.

My Hyperion had so much noise that I emailed them a sample asking "is this normal?". It was so much louder than my EHX muffs. Dwarfcraft suggested a different power supply so I hooked it up to a lone spot on my VooDoo labs PP2, now it just makes noise like a regular muff. I'm flirting with the idea of getting the new power supply from MXR...

i've been using my voodoo labs pp+2 and iso5 for years with no problems
never tried anything else besides a 1 spot so i don't have too much perspective on the matter
