Selling pedals to get an amp
I have stuff I really don't use/need. I would like to start another band and I think a Bassman would be the amp I'd like to use.
Stuff I would sell:
RV3
CE2
HM2
PDS1002
Timeline
I didn't know I could create polls here.

I wouldn't use any pedals if I could. Sell those pedals and any others you have, buy THREE Bassmans.

Re: Selling pedals to get an amp
I'd do it...I always think a good, loud, reliable amp beats any pedals. If I just had a big muff (or a pep fuzz or something...just something), and a ring mod, and a loud good sounding amp I would be happy.
Honestly kind of talking myself out of doing something similar.

Re: Selling pedals to get an amp
I'm down to one dirt and one reverb, but I have my dream amp (well my REALISTIC dream amp): a YBA-3 and I'm building myself the perfect guitar and then the perfect cab. So my pedalboard may be less exciting but the rest of my rig makes it worth it.
In short, sell sell sell.
In short, sell sell sell.

Sell your current amp and buy a preamp/di. Nobody needs amps, it's all about the pedals

Depends on what you're doing, but amps are probably more important overall.

Re: Selling pedals to get an amp
I voted to do it. I would rather have a few things that I love to use rather than a bunch of things I don't. For the past few year I have been downsizing my pedals (and other possessions, in general). If feels good. Pedal sales funded both my tape echoes which are pretty marvelous gadgets to play with. Still own a few pedals, some are probably going to disappear soon, maybe to help fund a 2nd EGC or jump into the scary world of modular synths. Then again, I could relapse at any time.

Do it. It's much easier to replace those pedals over time if you miss them than get the cash up for an amp.

Re: Selling pedals to get an amp
I don't buy any of that "amp is more important than the pedals" bullshit (WHAT FORUM IS THIS, AFTER ALL.!?!), but if you're not using / loving those particular pedals, then hell yeah you should sell them to buy an amp. Go for it!

Re: Selling pedals to get an amp
Amps are very important. I have an amp that I've wanted to replace for a long time, but it just works for me. I always know I can get a good tone at a reasonable volume and it's treated me well for years.
That being said, I sold an amp to buy my TimeLine and I do not regret it at all.
Should I buy this Traynor Mark 3 on my CL for $250? I really wanna save up for a shiv combo, but this is a way more realistic goal.
I've owned most of those pedals and regretted selling them, but my board has done a total 180 since this time last year (I guess more like a 540 or something) so idk u tell me.

Re: Selling pedals to get an amp
I'm mostly just being an ass - yes, amps are extremely important. Without them, it's tough to hear what your pedals are doing (unless yer going thru a PA or computer or whatever)... the bottom line in regards to the op was that if they have pedals sitting around gathering dust that could be exchanged for cash to get something necessary, that's totally worth it.
