Ugggg Jazzmaster wiring problem.

Post by ThurberMingus »

So I got this dank ass pink pickguard for my Jazzmaster (pics later) and figured if I need to swap everything it was a good time to add some copper shielding tape. But now my bridge pickup doesn't work. Neck works, rhythm circuit works, but my favorite bridge toan is done. I have no idea why this would happen. As far as I can tell the tape doesn't contact the lead anywhere, and it worked fine before I added the shielding.

Also I haven't taken the strings off to actually examine things up close yet. I'll do that tomorrow, but where should I even start? Has this happened to anyone else?

Help me ILF. I don't want to go on OSG because they aren't very mobile friendly. You're my only hope.

cold/broken solder joint that you can't see? Can you check all the lead circuit/bridge wiring?

Checked it out - the hot wire had come disconnected from the pickup itself! Soldered it back on and everything works fine!
