Ive been lovin my eastwood warren ellis tenor guitar, and just found out their custom shop has two new tenor models in the works. I think I'm going in on the tenor baritone There are lots of interesting projects in thir custom shop.

I don't understand how their whole Custom Shop thing works (and I don't pre-fund anything) but the Warren Ellis tenor rocked my stripey socks off and that baritone tenor looks poised to do the same...

Also, "Tenor Baritone" is a marketing term. A four string guitar with a 26" or so scale is pretty much a "plectrum guitar".

Yeah I'm not sure why the tenors are not listed as current projects considering that the funding goals have been met and the release date is given as April 2015. I sent an email to get some clarification before making the 150$ deposit. I've got two Eastwood guitars and they are both high quality instruments....but I've never dealt with their custom shop

Yeh that's what I'm thinking. It's so refreshing to play tuned to fifths too, although I like experimenting with alternative tunings with my current tenor guitar to open up the possibilities.

Have you done any demos with it? I wish there were more recorded examples of instruments like this in non-traditional settings.

no, but that's a great idea I almost always demo with my jvri mustang for the sole reason that it's a smaller body and easier to play while sitting cross legged as I've adapted to for making my demos so I can twiddle the knobs real easy. Almost a no brainer to use the tenor now that I think about it haha, but it does have a limited range...

Eh, they are taking the business model from those women's clothing companies like Beta Brand and stuff. They wont spend the money to make it if there is no interest and the limited nature makes people put money down before it goes away. My wife does it sometimes for good deals on good clothes. I guess it makes sense from a factory setup point of view. I guess video game companies do the same thing with pre orders incintives on stuff (helps offset the intial print run).

I'd really like to see it through a space echo!! Or that circuit bent nanoverb... Does it interact with dirt and stuff differently?

you know, I don't think I've made a demo of the space echo so I'll plan on making one with the tenor.

The pickup is pretty hot, much hotter than any of my other pickups so I have to adjust settings on my amps whenever I play it cause I like to keep them on the verge of breakup and the Ellis pushes them over the edge too soon. When using pedals it handles dirt great, with the tone control and volume knob there is a lot of range to different tones. Eastwood make a quality instrument and it sounds great acoustically too. The instrument is light and well balanced, the neck has a nice grippable feel to it, kinda chunky considering how small it is. The string spacing is weird and takes a second to get used to if you're into sweep picking arpeggios, it's doable but takes some adjustment to technique. Otherwise it's a really fun instrument that can realign how you're approaching your music.

It comes stock tuned like a tenor with pretty light gauge strings, CDGA. Warren tunes it i think GDAE and uses a heavier gauge of strings that I've tried and liked, but I'm all over the place with tunings. It's fun to tune it for drones and stuff.

I'd say just go for it if 500$ isn't a lot of money for you, it's a really fine instrument and as far as I can tell holds up its resale value if you dont bond with the weird string spacing....that's the only thing that's really different about it.

I've been dying to check out one of those WE Tenors since I saw Nick Cave last year, so damn good sounding. The only thing that's kept me from buying is the ability to actually play one in person. Seems like such a nice change of perspective for writing.
