Recommend me some bass compressors!

Post by KaosCill8r »

I'm thinking of getting a compressor for when I'm playing clean. Which is rare but I do sometimes. The one I'm thinking of is the BBE OptiComp. I can get one for a very decent price. Around $80.00AUD with shipping. And also I've used BBE compressors and other rack mounted effects in the studio and I liked them a lot.
Is there any other decent compressors sub $100AUD that you would recommend? :idk:

Quoted from the OvniLabs FAQ on top compressor picks: "If you need something cheap, the best pedals in my opinion are the DOD Milk Box, Boss LMB-3, and Line 6 Constrictor, pretty much in that order." That guy goes into INSANE detail on compressors - http://www.ovnilab.com/ - I don't know if he's tried ever compressor on the market, but he's sure as heck trying.

I personally love the MXR M87 Bass Compressor, but I don't know if you'll be able to get one at that price point (partially because I know squat about how much MXRs go for in the Aussy market). But that Ovnilabs guy knows a thing or two about compressors, that's for sure.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

I had a good look through that Ovnilab site and I checked Evilbay for local prices of various options. I think my original choice is still the best bang for your buck choice. And Just Nicks demo of the BBE compressors finally sold it. It has a very simple functionality and does very subtle bass compression with a vintage sound quality. I'm going to go for it.
Thanks for your opinions dudes.
