Gizmotron
How are we not talking about this?

I keep trying to picture what pedals I'd pair it with. Delay for days? POG? Organizer? Cadavernous? Raptio?

Re: Gizmotron
We were in the whatever and a namm thread. I'm on the preorder list and a few others are too. Seems awesome.
Ring mod and delay. Glad it has its own thread now

Interesting. I prefer the Moog version that never came out. However, this does allow some drone fun.

Always wondered why this thing wasn't big when it originally came out. So cool!

From what I've heard about the original one (never played one myself), the rubber was supposedly pretty persnickety for getting and keeping the right gription. mechanical bowing is a harsh mistress that way.Teej212 wrote:Always wondered why this thing wasn't big when it originally came out. hopefully with all the material advances that's sorted. It took inine skates over a century
I don't know what the original cost (doubt it was cheap) but I'd guess a mix of cost, inconsistent performance and having to adapt playing style all conspired to make it not popular enough to survive the first go around. Will the new one will meet the same fate? I hope not! time will tell.
I hope it doesn't wind up the the moog e1. People were clamoring for a hex ebow for decades. It's even in the original patent! then it came out and reception was lukewarm. I'ts discontinued now

I remember reading years ago that the original needed to be drill mounted onto the guitar and that the metallic wheels that plucked the strings were tearing up strings left & right. Wasn't this originally invented by the guitarist from 10CC?gordian knot wrote:From what I've heard about the original one (never played one myself), the rubber was supposedly pretty persnickety for getting and keeping the right gription. mechanical bowing is a harsh mistress that way.Teej212 wrote:Always wondered why this thing wasn't big when it originally came out. Whats the website for the new one? I'd be interested in looking into getting one.

Looking it up, I think the original wheels were Delrin. It's that hard plastic they use in mechanical bushings and I think dunlop might still makes some guitar picks out of it

I'm pretty sure it came out as a whole guitar, no?Bellyheart wrote:Interesting. I prefer the Moog version that never came out. However, this does allow some drone fun.

Yeah, the E1 I think it hit release about 2008. It's been discontinued for a couple of years, but it had I think around a 5 year run.Inconuucl wrote:I'm pretty sure it came out as a whole guitar, no?Bellyheart wrote:Interesting. I think Paul Vo (I believe he worked on the sustain electronics) is still doing sustainers of various species
I think they made some product missteps with it. Still very cool, but i would have liked to see some product refinement.
IIRC a lot of guitarists thought that the guitar itself was too meh in terms or core sound.

I was referring to the specific add on to the guitar, rather a whole guitar. That guitar is hot but I'll never have one.

yeah, that actually did come out as a limited edition kickstarter, the Vo-96.
Paul Vo explained that it wasn't never really intended as a full production thing
