the future is now, where's the cool shit?
there are robots that behave like dogs, dishwashers with emotions, electric cars that are faster than Porsches, etc...
and the CT5 is the best we can do?
are there really no unexplored effects? Where's the grain delay? Why doesn't every effect have envelope control? Why does the EHX 22500 exist?
Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough.

If you got some dough, might want to put together a sound processing Eurorack modular.

You realise that you are aiming this question at a group of people who still think vacuum tubes are awesome, that pays extra for outmoded technology such as germanium, bucket brigade chips or even old karaoke machine chips, a group that thinks not only that said technologies are worth a premium but are better than the products that have superseded them. A group that would gladly pay strymon a wad of Benjamins for the privilege of recreating a 40 year old tape machine...
I'm neither saying that the above stuff is bad nor that all guitarists desire said technology/sounds, but as a group we aren't exactly forward thinking.

The Pittsburgh Patchbox has been calling my name, but I was hoping that there would be some innovation in pedals specifically. I feel like there are a lot of super talented and imaginative builders out there and that the pedal world is on the cusp of revolution with Arduino, Raspberry Pi etc.
Even something like 2 or 3 reverse delays that can be run in series or parallel with pitch control...
And an irig doesn't really do shit that actual pedals don't do.
And yeah, I will never give up on the simple beauty of tube saturation and the soothing click of a PT2399, and I will forever search for the Excalibur of civil war muffs, but the new and old can coexist. And they do, there are guys here who want to run every Sonic Crayon through a brand new Science. The beauty of innovation is not having to choose between analog and digital. Fuck, look at what Joel has done with Chase Bliss.
I watched something the other day about someone playing their Twin Reverb into the base of an upright piano and mic'ing the open top. Eventually that will probably be an Eventide reverb algorithm.

I meant get an interface and play through apps not the iRig amp thing... I've been having great results with guitar through Audiobus and iDensity...technicoloraudio wrote:And an irig doesn't really do shit that actual pedals don't do.

Lots of shit from the 70s, 80s and 90s in a 2010 form.

I tried making this exact same point in another thread and got my ass kicked.

I've been saying it for awhile, but I truly believe digital is the future of effects. Now whether or not anyone agrees with me? I doubt it. LOL

Fwiw I think your question is valid technicolor dude, I just think guitarists as a group make it impossible to ever really moce forward more than in tiny increments. Which is why it's great that we have small scale manufacturers like Scott and Joel et al who push the envelope for what is a very niche market.
