Mic/Inst preamps for use with Audio Interface
Using a Motu ultralite Firewire which has 2 preamp mic/instrument inputs. I was thinking of getting another interface but I might actually just get a hardware preamp to use with the remaining 8 inputs that don't have preamps. I'm looking for a 2 channel preamp. Any suggestions on some that go for $200 or less used?

At $100 per mic pre channel, you're throwing money out the window if you want "better" than what's in your soundcard.
If you just need more pres, look into the Behringer mic series or Art Tube MP. If you'd like something a little better, look into the studio projects vtb1.

I may just opt for a new Audio Interface. Been looking at the Focusrite Saffire Pro 40

I have a Saffire Pro 40, and it's done right by me. There are a few occasions where I'll be pushing the gain a little more than I'd like (especially with dynamic mics) and I'll contemplate other pre-amps, but most of the time I'm more than content with it. Also, the Saffire MixControl software is really fluid and easy to navigate.

I just recently got the Art Pro MPA II. Swapped out the stock tubes for vintage RCA's. I'm very happy with it. I upgraded from a Focusrite Saffire 6, to the Art and a Resident Audio T4. The RA is somewhat "Sterile" and the Art definitely adds some character, the combo sounds way better than the Focusrite, or Mackie>Focusrite for that matter.
Granted I imagine the Scarlett's or modern Saffire's are far superior to mine.
