My bank account got compromised by way of my debit card. There were a TON of little tiny charges from around the world with the occasional $500 or $600 charge thrown in there for good measure. The fucking bank apparently thinks I'm a goddamned world traveler. Belguim, Tunisia, Japan, yeah, I was in all those places in one day.

After they plunged my account into the red, they kept hitting me for little tiny charges, each one accompanied a $35 overdraft fee. I strolled very calmly into my bank when I realized what had happened. The branch manager did what she could to straighten things out, even put a hold on the account so no more charges could be placed on my card. I was promised I'd have my money back in ten days... ten days later, there were new charges.

The bank was FORCING the charges on my account for these people and overriding the hold's I'd placed on MY OWN ACCOUNT. I had to go to the regional manager who basically oversees the southeastern united states for this particular bank to get things straightened out. After two and a half months, twelve panic attacks, a death threat, and cussing out old ladies at eight ni the morning, I have my money back.

I will NEVER have a debit card again. If you have one, BURN it, CANCEL it, and make sure the stupid beeotch at the bank branch does it while you watch (sounds dirty). I seriously think I lost a couple of years off my life dealing with this crap. I've never been so furious in my life.

Try putting gas in your car. Try buying groceries. You went from having several thousand dollars to being over two grand in the hole. Try not to let it bother you.

These fuckers create money out of thin air every time they make a loan, and I had to wait months to be returned money that was stolen from me. Money that they CAUSED to be taken from me, ultimately. So I told em I was gonna drive to their home office with a rusty butter knife and a roll of duct tape (branch manager said she'd ride shotgun). I cussed out the old lady working for the bank who didn't quite understand what I was going through and behaved as though I was overreacting. Her big emerald cut diamond ring smugly gleaming in my face.

It got me higher ups, It got me to the people who would actually do something about my situation. I'm not one to just roll over and take it when I'm wronged. Two wrongs don't make a right, but in this case, it allowed me to survive without any severe long term damage. I'm normally very cordial, and pleasant in public, but these assholes drove me to act like one of the pissed off Sicilians who raised me. I'd exhausted every civil mean short of paying for an attorney.

Don't get me started on THOSE bloodsuckers.
