Indeed. The live Zwan stuff like "Jesus, I" and "Mary Star of the Sea" is amazing.
Zwan were awesome, and had Corgan stuck with it, he probably wouldn't have lost his mind in a monumental fashion when people have a go at him for having the audacity to do new stuff.

Where Billy Corgan wants Smashing Pumpkins to be NOW, is where Zwan already were during the 2 years they existed.

...and yes, I love Paz and her tiny shorts too. One of my all-time "hot female bassists".
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey... stuff.

It seems with much of Billy Corgan's post-Mellon Collie output, it takes a while for people to catch up and "get" it.

It seems to me that Adore only got the recognition that (I feel) it deserved in later years.

Maybe one day, Corgan will change his opinion on Zwan and put out all that unreleased goodness in some kind of box set. A man can dream, I suppose. I just want a proper Djali Zwan album.

yeah, you're right - it happened with Zwan, it happened (is happening still) with TFE. in another few years, people are going to enjoy Zeitgeist as well.

...i can't ever see alot of old fans ever liking that record. Unless they really are the true die-hards.

I mean i got mellon collie on cassette for my 9th birthday, and i loved everything they ever did before and after it.

I got Zeitgeist for my 21st birthday and i felt like the magic was gone

But Zwan, when they came out, i don't think i could have been more pleased with that record.

i thought zeitgeist was completely uninspired compared to anything else that the pumpkins ever did. :idk: with the exception of tarantula and doomsday clock, it seemed to me to just be over-the-top. i felt it was like going to see a really good pumpkins cover band who tried to write good songs but just ... eh. lastly (and most importantly,) it really looks like bc is trying to line his pockets with gold three or four times with the amount of silly things he's been selling to people who will buy them. i'm wondering why nobody's had the balls to say that the pumpkins have sold out except for jimmy chamberlin. :whateva:

zwan was fanfuckingtastic, on the other hand.

obviously this is just my opinion and nothing to start a southpark over. honestly, pre-zeitgeist, i was infatuated with the music that the pumpkins made. now i'm horrified and appalled.
well i guess, but i just don't know.

i think BC getting all bitter and wierd about zwan and not releasing the djali dvd (or some of the 150 songs that got tracked for mary star) is one of the worst decisions he's ever made. and he's had some doozies. while not exactly a commercial success, it's really some of his best songs, period.

I agree with all points above except that Zeitgeist bashing. But my defense of that album has been well documented else where.

Also, I resisted buying The Future Embrace for years and when I finally did, I was pleasantly surprised.
