So we're starting with this....
A fender body of unknown provenance and a Mr Krinkle baritone neck, picked up as a lot on eBay for around $100.
The body, well it's pretty damn ugly.
I guess the previous owner either gave up on stripping it or this was their idea of a classy "relic", dunno. Me, I'm gonna more or less live with what's left of the finish and am giving the rest some quick hits with some sandpaper, stain, and oil.
It's drying now. For no prep work, no light, and working with the supplies on hand, it didn't turn out half bad. Not as pretty as the carved koa-top I did back in the day, but it'll do.
Right now, all the parts are here except for the pickguard. While I wait, I'm considering sanding, staining, and oiling the headstock to match...

Nice - what sorts of pickups/wiring are you planning on?

For the time being, she's getting a set of MHD/MadHouseDesign/Homewrecker Tele pickups. Think it's an A5 neck pickup and their "Knuckleduster" A3 bridge pup.
Probably higher output than I'd originally planned on, but an ILF bro made me an offer like waking up with a decapitated equine... We'll see how they work out.
As for wiring - 4 way switch. That's my go to set up for tele's. That extra hot parallel (or is it series? Perpendicular? Whatever.) position is perfect for me - since I normally live on the neck pickup, knocking the switch forward into position 4 gives a little more treble and alot more power and kills all the noise. It's a simple and essential tool.

Not the prettiest girl at the dance, but that's not what I was going for - cheap was the key. At least it's got a bit more of a personal character and a matte finish...

I'm really happy with how some of the grain popped...
And the way the old finish has mutated into a variety of undersea blue greens and violent bruised purples in spots...
