FaderGrease...anybody use this before? loose turning pots

so I have some pots/knobs that I cleaned w/ DeOxit, and afterwards, they turn waaay easier than they used to.

want to stiffen them back up a lil bit.
was looking into it, and it seems that FaderGrease is probably what I would need to get my knobs back to where they used to be.


but like how do u apply this, keeping in mind that I can't take the whole unit apart (which is mostly what they tell u to do on the internet).
i feel like applying it on the top and hoping it seeps thru down the pot shaft is wishful thinking...?

anybody use this stuff before? experiences? good, bad?
any other methods to stiffening up a loose turning pot?

nada? what about the FaderLube 100%, anybody use that before?

How did you spray your pots?
AFAIK those fader grease products are for conductive plastic type fader assemblies found in modular mixing desk channel strips.

i just removed the knobs and sprayed at an angle to try to get it inbetween the pot shaft and the outer thing (sorry don't know the real names for this stuff) as best as I could.
the deoxit came w/ a long thing red straw that makes it easier to aim into tighter spaces.

i think the deoxit just ate up the grease/lubricant that was already in the pot...?

from what i've gathered on their site, is that u can use it for faders, pots and other stuff like that. they just don't explain very well how to apply it.
i feel like i'm gunna make a huge mess w/ this syringe styled grease and it might not even really make a big difference, or really get into the pot well enough to make a difference.

I figured. That method is limited in its effectiveness. What you want to do is spray inside the notch[es] on the rear of the edge of the pot, or if you have pots with removable rear caps, directly spray the wiper and contacts.

what if it is like a board mounted pot tho?

Maybe someone else can chime in with better insight...you might be doing the best you can with that particular type of assembly.
I am not a fan of such pots. Look for any notches, or slots as previously described, but I think those little guys are sealed. Ultimately it may actually be more practical to just replace the pot

I'm also interested in finding out! I'm in the same boat after just cleaning the board-mounted volume pot on my Microkorg. Scratchies are gone, but so is most of the turn resistance. I was thinking of trying an o-ring or rubber washer under the knob, but have yet to give it a go.

yea that is i think the alternative, several ppl on the internet said this is what they did w/ a rubber washer, or even some ppl said they used hi-hat felt for drum kits. might try this too if I am around a home depot or guitar center. as it wouldn't require taking the whole thing apart. if i do, i'll keep u posted dude and please do vice versa!
