Will I be able to get a $50 SCF clone now?

Re: Behringer bought TC
probably not, but I just found them to be a powerbrand for me, then they're bought by cheap brand.Teej212 wrote:i dont think this will change anything...
Though I did learn that Yamaha bought Line6 in that article. Didn't know.

It's a period of consolidation, the market is shrinking.
If you want the toys to continue to be made, it's inevitable they'll be snapped up.

Re: Behringer bought TC
argueably TC isn't doing as great as they have done in the past. While there's been a boutique boom they face other problems such as not being as well known/advertised to the average guitarist as Boss/Digitech/Line6/Ibanez and now one of the selling "cool points" of their pedal line is being done -possibly better- by Source Audio.rfurtkamp wrote:It's a period of consolidation, the market is shrinking.

I think getting with Behringer could be good for them but it has unfortunate implications. ( <-- Edited)

Re: Behringer bought TC
I think the Toneprint stuff hit some sweet spots for versatility and ease of use (I think Rob had called it "idiot level") while still offering deep editing, though limited to one spot on almost all pedals. Yes, Source Audio is taking some of that further in ways now, but SA is still fighting their way up in the market. If TC added a couple more user spots and some more algorithms/power, I think they could move some Mk II pedals just fine. If they added shimmer to the HOF successor, TGP would jizz its collective pants. I just want them to fix the Toneprint editor for iPad already.
I dunno, Behringer seemed to do very well with Midas and integrating Midas tech into their own mixer products. Maybe this goes well?

Re: Behringer bought TC
Yea, I'm hoping that new ownership will offer some choices in TC that are in the middle ground between "one preset only" and "wall of rack stuff" - that's the sweet spot honestly where they can lay claim to doing something.
Hell, even a Source Audio-type "Toneprint storage device" that allows external control/extra presets would be an improvement.
I'd love a TC pedal that offered say even 8 preset slots. Or let me overwrite *every* factory setting with my own Toneprint in each slot.

Re: Behringer bought TC
they should be able to do that. I don't think they will a they need to offer player's "fall back" sounds. But line6 DL/DM/FM/MM-4 allowed user to over write presents with a factory reset. It'd be easy enough to host their own factory presents as toneprints.....rfurtkamp wrote: I'd love a TC pedal that offered say even 8 preset slots. ...I like TonePrint as they are...I just wish they'd do a Stereo dirt pedal. Source Audio beat them to that though.

Re: Behringer bought TC
Everybody else offers ROM backup of the factory stuff on their pedals - I can overwrite every patch on my Boss stuff, or the Mustang amp, or... etc.
And restore everything if I decide otherwise or do a patch-by-patch restore.
